The new EP “TIME MACHINE” by Dutch-based Cosmic Funk Project KAGAMI was released today, Friday, April 11th.
KAGAMI is a project created by producers Lucas Sim and Rotem Gerad. Since last year, he has released works featuring vocalists such as Natsu Summer, Mime, and Hikari, known for his activities on Tokimeki Records.
In addition to the aforementioned Natsu Summer and Hikari, this film features six singers from Japan, including kiki vivi lily, Kan Sano, Nakano Yosuke (Emerald), and Wakita Monari. This EP is said to be a reconstruction of Japan’s deep love for AOR and city pop in the 1980s through a modern lens.
Inspired by artists such as Aran Tomoko and Yamashita Tatsuro, KAGAMI explores the value of music that transcends time and weaves stories through memories and flow of time. It reflects precious childhood moments, fading human relationships, the quiet emptiness of everyday life, and the emotions that remain over the years. They imagined the project as a lost masterpiece from the 1980s, when they never saw the light of day, and were determined to capture the essence and sound of the era.
