Ryukyu Rare Groove is a compilation that has become a hot topic as many people get addicted to the unique grooves, featuring traditional Okinawan scales and Western music. In addition to the best selections from the 2003 Ryukyu Rare Groove and 2006 Ryukyu Rare Groove 2, a renewed version of “Ryukyu Rare Groove Revisited,” which includes new songs, has been decided to be released in analog form.

It contains 14 valuable tropical groove songs, including the Yara Familys, which are a symbol of this series, as well as the songs of Shimauta Rock originator Kino Masakichi, and jazz singer Saito Teiko (Hirara Teiko), who released his debut album in 2022 at the age of 86 and became a hot topic.

In addition, “Ryukyu Rare Groove Crossover,” a selection of songs with jazz arrangements of Okinawan melody and folk songs, will also be released at the same time. It includes instrumental works such as Latin big band jazz by Misuna Naotheru and the Tokyo Cuban Boys, mainly from MURO Select’s “Diggers Dozen,” as well as Yamaya Kiyoshi’s Okinawa folk song Jazz Funk, which was also featured in the 7-inch “Ryukyu” from Tropic Night Records.
