Dos Monos released their new single “Pearl” today, Wednesday, April 23rd.
This is the pre-single single from the new EP “Dos Moons,” scheduled to be released in May. The song is over five minutes long, starting with an ominous sampling that gives it a sense of horror-style feel, and then thrilling music from a variety of genres, from ambient to dance music and metal. Two musicians supporting the second season of Dos Monos, Matsumaru Kei, and drums, participated in two musicians, Oi Kazuya, and the music, harmonize the sound of the band that was reborn in the previous work with the world of Dos Monos’ former sampling music.
The mix engineer was The Anticipation Illicit Tsuboi, the master of Dos Monos’s musician, and the mastering engineer was Matt Colton, who has worked on works such as Arca and Aphex Twin.
The artwork was by Mizuno Koji, who won the 66th Academy Exhibition Grand Prize in 2016 for Hyakki Yagyo, and is still active as a curator and artist. The work depicts a view of the moon reflected on the surface of the water, in contrast to the artwork from the EP, which is drawn to the moonlight and heads towards the surface.
Furthermore, Dos Monos will be broadcast live on Instagram Live from 7pm on Saturday, April 26th to a private listening party for their new EP, “Dos Moons.”
In addition, the first domestic tour “Tour D” will be held from May. The Tokyo performance will be performed by solo live performances, the Osaka performance will be performed by Otobuke Beva, and the Sapporo performance will be performed by Television Tairiku Ondo.
