Projects based on the theme of “sound” related to various projects and initiatives by JT“JT Rhythm Loop”The second installment of the series has been released.
This project aims to convey the JT Group’s business and initiatives from a new perspective through music. Following the first installment of tofubeats, this time we will be using human beat boxer SO-SO. The production will continue to be handled by the interesting corporation Kayak.
SO-SO visited the venue for the Shogi Japan Series sponsored by JT, and began production after being inspired by the unique sounds played by the shogi pieces. By combining the sounds of the same recorded “JT Forest” and “JT Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Team,” we created a song with a worldview that looks like a piece of music playing.
In addition, SO-SO, a human-beat boxer who wields rhythms using sounds emitted from his mouth and nose, develops detailed beat-making from his own unique perspective, distributing sampled volleyball rally sounds to the left and right to create a spatial extent, and using the sound of hitting the volleyball cheering megaphone to create melody. The sound arrangement was made so that when you listen to it with earphones, you can hear the sounds of shogi pieces from the left and right, and the performance was made to make it feel like each player is playing the sound.
In the first half, the ingenious shogi gazes form the foundation of the rhythm, and in the second half, the energetic human beatbox that is typical of SO-SO, making it a song worth listening to until the end.
The music video features up-and-coming Hishikawa Taiichi, who specializes in synchronizing music and video, as the director. The main story also includes a special footage that captures the behind-the-scenes story of the production. It can also be enjoyed as a making-of footage featuring SO-SO visiting the Shogi Japan Series, the beat construction process in the studio, and interviews.
The third installment of “JT Rhythm Loop” is scheduled to be released in the future. I look forward to more news.
[SO-SO Comments]
It was refreshing to create songs with sounds that I’ve never used before, and I was excited from the whole time I was able to record them in the field and production! This project, which combines JT’s various sounds and my musicality, allowed me to discover a new style. Thank you for joining us in the project!
