18scott releases new song "Yankees Cap" produced by Meguri Sasaki and releases music video

Rapper 18scott will release his new single, “Yankees Cap” today, Wednesday, May 14th. The MV was also released.

This is the first single in 2025 and is produced by rapper/producer Meguri Sasaki, a rapper/producer from Akita Prefecture. With the UK sound with impressive vocal sampling, it is an ambitious work that incorporates plenty of wordplay, which 18scott specializes in, using the keyword “Yankees Cap,” which is his trademark for his future prospects and his own stance. It is also said that this work will fully experience the atmosphere of a new album, which is scheduled to be released within the year.

The Mix/Mustang is created by Jelly One, and the artwork is by up-and-coming photographer REON KODA.

The music video was directed by Ken Yoshimura, who also served as director of “Keep Risin’ Freestyle,” a song from 18scott’s album “Rise And Fall Like Tides,” released last year. With bold camerawork and humorous direction, the video brings out the most atmosphere of the song.

This single was created from scratch with producer Meguri Sasaki. Meguri is a real talent, and the album she is currently working on will include several more songs she has written together.

The best part about this song was that I wanted to create a sound that doesn’t seem to be many people in Japan, and since both me and Meguri listen to UK hip hop on a regular basis, I get the impression that communication was extremely clear and it turned out quite smoothly. At first I was trying to release a more sadistic single, but it was the first time in 2025 and was ahead of the album, so I thought it would be better to listen to it in a more rough and more moody song. I’m really particular about the lyrics, so I hope you listen to them at least once, but I hope you’ll listen to them quickly and get better in the morning, so I hope you’ll listen to them casually.
