The international showcase festival and conference “Music Lane Festival Okinawa 2026 / Trans Asia Music Meeting 2026” will be held in Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture from Friday, January 30th to Sunday, February 1st, 2026.
“Music Lane Festival Okinawa” (MLFO) is a showcase live showcase that aims to match artists selected from both Japan and abroad (partially bookings) with music staff (Delegates) from various cities in Asia. Live shows will be held at multiple venues in the city at the same time in the form of a circuit-shaped town festival. Approximately 60 artists are scheduled to appear, and the event will be held for the general public and industry insiders. The public recruitment for performers is scheduled to be held on the TuneCore Japan special website from 8:00pm on Friday, May 30th.
In addition, “Trans Asia Music Meeting” (TAMM), which started in 2016 with the aim of building an Asian music network from Okinawa, is part of the MLFO conference and networking program. This is for artists who perform and industry insiders (business pass purchasers). Yamaguchi Tetsuichi (CEO of Studio ENTRE Inc.) will continue to serve as the program director, and students and faculty at Entertech University will be supporting the planning and management of the music business in a practical and comprehensive manner.
Furthermore, starting in 2025, the “Co-Writing” program has been added. This is an attempt to create new songs for the Japanese market through collaboration between foreign artists and Japanese creators, leading to actual releases of works. The creator community, Co-Writing Farm (operated by CWF Co., Ltd.), will fully cooperate in planning and managing the songwriting camp.
This year, six foreign artists and Japanese creators hoped for co-writing. It was a short time of less than half a day, but based on the ideas that emerged here, I continued to produce the work after returning to Japan, and six songs were completed. These songs will be released on Friday, May 30th by Music Lane Label as “Trans Asia Resonance 2025 EP.”
As in the previous year, LAB Co., Ltd., a music digital marketing startup company, will be participating in the partner company. It will promote festivals, market and support participating artists, and offer multilingual distribution.
The main purpose of this festival is to match artists with people in the music industry. It is said that this has led to many concrete results, such as performing at overseas festivals and contracting agents. Similar festivals include “SXSW,” which is held every March in Austin, USA, but they are widely held in Asian cities, such as Bangkok Music City (Thailand), AXEAN festival (ASEAN countries), and Zandari Festa (Korea), and have also created global success stories.
With so many things being solved online, the showcase festival, which offers real-world networking, is a place for direct information exchange and a place for artists to make friends with each other and in the music industry. The importance of that community is now being rethinked.
He has also begun his move as a booking agent to serve as a contact point for foreign artists in the Japanese and Asian markets. The first of these will be to support the release of Strawman & Celine’s (Italy + Mongolia) songs in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China, as well as marketing and booking.
