The music video for the song “river” will be premiered at 9:00pm on the same day from the EP “Seek,” which will be released tomorrow, Wednesday, May 21st.
The EP “Seek” is the first packaged work in about two years since the album “PRIVATE.” It includes a total of four songs created by woven together with up-and-coming sound producers both in Japan and abroad, with the theme of “a new journey.”
“river” is a song composed by Kota Matsukawa, a producer, beatmaker and bassist and founder of creative collective/label wau, who also produced reina and Wez Atlaz, among others. Starting with the squealing calm of the piano sound, the children’s innocent chorus add a sacred glow, and the climax is accompanied by thrilling drums and synths, accelerating the flow. It is said that the song is structured to excite the emotions of those who listen to it.
IRI’s singing voice and lyrics, which seem to throb the surface, are somewhat introspective, but it also gives a sense of a strong will to be there despite the large-scale flow.
The music video was directed by Kojima Hiroshi, who has also worked on music videos such as Aimer, BUMP OF CHICKEN, The fin., and VaVa, as well as feature films. This is the first time they’ve teamed up with iri since “Faster than me.”
