It has been announced that Tokyo-based DJ/producer Gen Yamada will release his first EP, i met BAY and Mafuyu, on Monday, June 30th.
Gen Yamada is a member of the DJ unit WASP, and has recently attracted attention for being involved in the production of music for artists such as JUMADIBA and YDIZZY (kiLLa). This work includes five songs, including “Morning Mina (feat. GYW BAY DAGR & Lil Mafuyu),” which was released in advance on Saturday, June 7th. Although it is a compact structure of approximately 10 minutes in total, it is said to be a work that is packed with detailed trackmaking and emotional vocal work.
The entire EP was composed by Gen, and the lyrics were written by GYW BAY DAGR (hereinafter referred to as BAY) and Lil Mafuyu (hereinafter referred to as Mafuyu). Gen’s heavy 808 and melodic sound combine with BAY and Mafuyu’s scenic lyrics and pale singing voice to create a unique worldview. Based on the natural chemical reactions created during the interaction between Gen, BAY, and Mafuyu, the EP, which combines musical experimentality and a personal atmosphere, has been completed.
The mix and mastering was handled by Jeff Loik of Musashi Village. The recording was done at Brico Studio. The artwork was by WASP’s partner SOTA.
