Shingo Suzuki LYPS releases new song “Green eyes” Watanabe Shota, Mori Masato, Terakubo Reiya participating

Shingo Suzuki’s solo project Shingo Suzuki LYPS (Liquid Yellow Portraits)’s new single “Green eyes” was released today, Wednesday, July 2nd.

Shingo Suzuki is also known as the bassist of Ovall. In this project, artists who resonate with Shingo Suzuki’s music gather together for each song, expressing the song with a sound that doesn’t fit the style, focusing on jazz and soul.

This song was recorded in a quartet formation in which Terakubo Reiya (Tr.) is joined by a piano trio by Shingo Suzuki (Ba.), Watanabe Shota (Pf.), and Mori Masato (Dr.). The ensemble is made up of pentatonic, full of bluesy feel by trumpets.

Shingo Suzuki LYPS has also been confirmed to appear in “FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL’25” this summer after the release party for the album “Liquid Yellow Portraits.”

[Shingo Suzuki Comment]

This is a straight-ahead song that progresses with bright chord progressions among the LYPS songs. The impressive intro bassline develops the pattern and grows into excitement. The theme is made up of pentatonic, full of bluesy feel by trumpets. The arrangements that actively change the groove in some places, such as intentionally swinging strongly or making it feel more enjoyable, are the uniqueness of LYPS. The drum beat is a good, fast-paced drummer. Combined with these, it’s an exquisitely friendly song. There are phrases that combine the unison bass and piano in some places, which makes it addictive. This is a live instrumental song from LYPS. The recording was a quartet of Watanabe Shota (P), Mori Masato (DS), Terakubo Reiya (TP), and Shingo Suzuki (BA).
The songs are easy to understand, and the composition is easy to play, making them easy to play even for recording.
Even after recording, there was almost no editing, and the tones of each instrument were not made into effect, but were compiled with the natural tones of the instruments. The mix, which gives the room reverb a pleasant atmosphere, is full of a sense of session on site.
A vivid mix with musical instruments in front of you. Not smooth, it’s hot, live music.
It is an easy song to play among LYPS songs, so I would like to have many people perform it at jam sessions and other events.
