To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut this month in July, FOO FIGHTERS has released a surprise new song titled “Today’s Song”! This is the first new song by the band in about two years since their 11th album, “Foo Fighters,” released in 2023.

The new song, presented to fans around the world who have supported the band for many years, is an anthemic masterpiece that is typical of FOO FIGHTERS, combining dynamic rhythms, strong guitar riffs, and delicate yet hopeful melody. Meanwhile, the theme of Lyric is the growth and perseverance of humans when they encounter a wall in life. The oil painting on the cover photo is also by Harper Grohl, daughter of Dave Grohl (Vo/Gt).
Dave Grohl has also released a message to fans in response to the release! Below is an excerpt from the message.
In a long career, there have been moments of joy that can’t be held back, while others have been struck by sadness. There were glorious victory and unbearable defeats. Even if my bones were broken or my heart was in ruins, I came along while I was still up. Still, we have been following this path together, helping each other, no matter what. Because people cannot live alone.
Of course, this story cannot be told without William Goldsmith (ex-Dr)’s infinite energy, Franz Stahl (ex-Gt)’s experienced knowledge, and Josh Freese (ex-Dr)’s thunderous technique. So, take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the time, music and memories that we shared together. Thank you so much, gentlemen.
And…Taylor (Hawkins/ex-Dr). There’s no day when your name doesn’t come up. Sometimes there are tears, sometimes laughs… No matter what we do, wherever we go, your presence is always there, forever. The only thing that can rival the size of your beautiful soul is our endless craving for your absence. I’m really sad that you aren’t here. FOO FIGHTERS continues to imprint the existence of Taylor Hawkins in every note that it will play, until the time comes when we reach the final point.
