THE PRODIGY has shaken the world with its destructive performance and provocative and innovative sound. In the summer of 2025, in conjunction with the long-awaited return to Japan at “SUMMER SONIC 2025” and “SONICMANIA”, their masterpiece, “The Fat Of The Land,” will be released on a domestic CD and an LP with a Japanese obi!
Their third album, The Fat Of The Land, released in 1997, has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. It’s a monster work in which drum and bass, breakbeats, electro, industrial and rock collide violently and undergoes a chemical reaction. Not only offensive anthems such as “Firestarter”, “Breathe”, and “Smack My Bitch Up”, but they also have unique collaborations with ULTRAMAGNETIC MC’S’s Kool Keith, KULA SHAKER’s Crispian Mills (Vo/Gt), and REPUBLICA’s Saffron (Vo). It can be said to be the true essence of THE PRODIGY.
Furthermore, the domestic CD, which has been difficult to obtain for a long time, includes four additional bonus tracks of powerful remixed sound sources that have been reconstructed from a modern perspective. Among them, the “Firestarter” remix by Andy C, a stalwart in the drum and bass scene, further amplifies the ferocity of the original, and sublimates it into a levy and devastating jungle track. The legendary legend is now evolving once again, as a symbol of the UK sound of the 90s and is a timeless masterpiece that has been engraved in music history.
THE PRODIGY’s “The Fat Of The Land” will be released on August 8th on a domestic CD and an LP with a Japanese obi. The domestic CD contains four bonus tracks, and includes a Japanese commentary and lyrics translation. In addition to the limited edition Japanese obi (syllable translation and commentary), the LP will also be released as a set with a T-shirt.
