The music video for “back2me” has been released from the collaboration EP “CRY DAY” released in February by awasetsu mona and MERI.
This music video depicts the two of them standing in a room where soft light shines through, just as if they were killing time. There is warmth in the room, but it feels somewhat cold and left behind. They seem to meet, but they don’t, but they are still in the same place. It’s as if floating between dreams and reality.
The lyrics capture scenes of Tokyo’s nighttime convenience stores and departure bells, and as symbolized by the passage “You’re a sweet face/I had a bitter scent,” this song is strongly engraved with contradictory feelings such as “I want to love you, but I can’t love you” and “I want to go back but I can’t go back.”
The fantastic, film-like images from creative team PINK PROPAGANDA make it seem like they float between dreams and reality. Only the clock moves, and no response comes. Still, repeating “i want you back.” I don’t want to forget it, but I have no choice. I want to go on, but I stop. As if embracing such a contradiction, “back2me” quietly reflects the temperature in my heart that I can’t proceed with either of these things.
