Yoshida Youhei Group distributes the first single "Line to Hikari" from his 5th album in 8 years

Yoshida Youhei Group has announced that it will release its first 5th album in eight years, “Happiness Comes in Waves,” on Wednesday, August 20th. In addition, the advance single “Line and Hikari” was released today, Wednesday, July 9th.

Eight years after the previous work “AR” (2017), Yoshida Youhei Group resumed his activities after resigning from the membership and interrupting his activities. Until the previous work, it was heavily influenced by US Indy Rock and Post Rock after the 2000s, but this work mainly includes songs that were heavily influenced by folk music from the 1960s and 1970s, such as The Byrds and The Band.

The pre-single single “Line and Hikari” is a song based on folk rocks from the 1960s, and includes performances that follow the alternative country of the 1990s and 00s, as well as wind instrument arrangements that have been influenced by indie classics since 000. The participants include Gomi Toshiya (drums, chorus), Sato Nozomi (piano, organ), Katsuo Yusuke (bass), Shiro and Branch (chorus), and Oishi Shuntaro (clarinet, tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, flute).

[Artist Comment]

It’s been a while since I was able to produce an album. I haven’t been able to do anything for a while due to the withdrawal of the members and changes in my life since then, but with the release of this work I would like to continue working again. I have created my previous works with the desire to incorporate as many music as possible from various genres of music that I like, but this time I decided to rethink what I really like and what I want to do most right now, and decided to unify it with the folky texture that I listened to the most when I was in high school and college. We have focused on the sound of each instrument and the texture of the recordings and mixes, and have devised a combination of nostalgic and newness, so we would appreciate your listening.
