Ozzy gained worldwide popularity as a vocalist for BLACK SABBATH, a national rock band from his native England in the 1960s, and began working solo in 1979. He is also popular in Japan and is known as the “Emperor of the Metal World.” In 1994, he won the 36th Grammy Awards for Best Hard Rock, and in 2006 BLACK SABBATH was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Most recently, he also appeared at BLACK SABBATH’s All-Star tribute performance “Back to the Beginning” held in Birmingham, England on July 5th, UK time, and although he was sitting in a chair, he received cheers from the musicians who gathered in his hometown, and his unique singing voice was resonated and he seemed energetic.
The cause of death has not been revealed, but he has suffered from multiple health problems in the past, not only four spine surgery, but also made public in 2020 that he has Parkinson’s disease and that he has difficulty walking. However, despite the illness or pandemic, Ozzy continued to produce and release, releasing the album Ordinary Man in 2020 and Patient Number 9 in 2022.
