On May 4th, “Vicke Blanka presents RAINBOW ROAD -Den-” was held at Festival Hall in Osaka. This “RAINBOW ROAD” is an event that Vicke Blanca launched in 2022 as a “place where fans can gather once a year,” and this is the third event. With the desire to “convey and spread the greatness of her music,” she landed in Osaka, her favorite city, for the first time. What’s more, up until now it had been a one-man live performance, but this will be the first time it will be held in a band format, with Ayaka and Midoku Society, as well as muque (pronounced: Muku) invited as the opening act. Tickets were sold out, and the excitement of the packed audience filled the prestigious venue. We will introduce in order the stages performed by the four groups, who were excited about their precious collaboration.
●muque
A group of four from Fukuoka will greet the audience as they enter the venue one after another. They are newcomers who formed in 2022, but they showed off with a relaxed and dignified act while looking out over the bright audience, starting with “tape” and then “456.” The beat that blends with the suppleness and floating feeling that fits the body quickly brought out the claps, and also attracted attention with “my crush”, which has been a hot topic on Instagram, and “Bite you”, which has a rock sound led by the bass. The band’s performance was lively and I felt great. And the last one is “Blue Light”. The passionate vocals of Asakura (Vo) were placed on the sad city pop, giving a full impression of the sound world of the four members. His popularity makes him feel at ease even on the big stage, and I have a feeling he’ll do a great job. I can’t seem to take my eyes off them from now on.
●Green-yellow society
The show opens with the pop anthem “Hajime no Uta” in full swing. The celebratory feel, powerful playing, and piercing singing voice raised the temperature all at once, and during the next song “Party!!”, wipers were generated, creating a spectacular view. In addition, the sound image that changes expression one after another in “Slow dance” and the sense of scale that is amplified in the chorus are very rewarding to listen to. Issei Kobayashi (G), who is from the same hometown as Bikkeblanka and has been in contact with him on a regular basis, shared some behind-the-scenes stories because they are good friends, making the audience laugh as they head into the second half. First, the love song “Summertime Cinderella” begins with a sparkling keyboard, giving a sweet and sour feeling, and later becomes emotional with the ballad “Omoihito”, which is acclaimed by Vickeblanca. Haruko Nagaya (Vo/G) is in the spotlight, placing her hand on her chest and letting out her voice. However, she also shows an aggressive side in the thrilling “Hana ni Te”. Her strobe light stimulates her eyes and she raises her fist, followed by “Mela!” The members performed brilliant solos, and the large audience bounced, waved, and sang their way through the hit numbers. Continuing with the momentum, they ended the live in a good mood with the exhilarating pop song “From now on, then after that”.
●Ayaka
When it appeared after “Bikke Band”, a voice of “Oh” rose from the intro and suddenly the killer tune “Mikazuki” came out. Everyone stops moving and concentrates on their noble demeanor and supple vocals. Also, after the MC, two songs, “Tsuyoku Omoru” and “Tsuukaru Insun,” added a rock flavor. The singing voice, which blends with the rich band ensemble, freely moves between high and low, giving it a relaxed feel, but it also shows off its loftiness and approaches. The audience was once again captivated by the dramatic scene, but they said, “I wish we could sing together,” and the moment filled with warmth as they sang the national song “Nijiiro.” In addition to the joyful clapping, there was also a huge chorus, creating a great sense of unity. The next song, “To The Moon,” also hits your heart in a positive and cheerful way. Then, with Ayaka’s invitation, Bikkeblanka appeared quite slowly. Ayaka immediately chimed in, and the conversation proceeded in a soft atmosphere that made it hard to believe that this rehearsal was the first time they had met. Then, the two of them sang the title together and moved on to “Everyone Under the Sky.” The microphone relay that shakes the heart and the exquisite harmony created by eye contact are available only today. Everyone listened with rapt attention, and the special final scene was firmly etched in their minds.
●Bikke Blanca
The live performance started with “Slave of Love”, which was an uppercut from the beginning. The performance unfolds dynamically with the “Bikke Band”, moving freely around the stage and creating agitation. During “Fabulous,” the fans bounced and shook the venue, their outstretched hands going up and down. The next song, “Ookami Nara,” shows off their singing talent, and the audience claps in unison. Of course, the MC, as usual, drew laughter and launched into “Want You Back.” After entertaining them with call and response and showing off their true entertainer abilities, they next performed two songs that gave a sense of their global sound. Firstly, “Snake” is tricky and familiar, and the band performed their new song “Never Run”, which was released as a surprise, for the first time. After drawing people in with the intro of Bikkeblanka’s keyboard and strings, they put English lyrics on a light beat and get people dancing. In addition, he also shared the background behind “Never Run,” which he wrote about what he felt during his most recent North American tour, and his thoughts on music. “If the songs I made can solve someone’s confusion, I don’t think it would be a miracle,” he says, and then goes on to write a series of love songs for spring and summer. After tightening your heart with the sentimental ballad “Ponytail,” they united with the fans in “This Kiss” with choreography that goes with the beautiful pop melody. Then, at the end of the show, the voltage reached its climax with their representative song “Ca Va?”, and they selected “Kakumei” as the last song. A loud fanfare of “revolution” resounds in the large space, and the rock sound is colored by an anthemic chorus. The main story ended with a feeling of elation that never seemed to go away.
In addition, during the encore, they announced that they will be holding a hall tour starting in September. The audience erupted with cheers, and the aura that greeted them was the upper tune “Urara,” which had won first place in the fan vote in the past. What’s more, there was a surprise that Kobayashi from Green Yellow Society will be participating as a guitar and chorus member. This was actually Kobayashi’s first time playing the guitar on another artist’s stage, but during the song, they showed off the classic Bikkeblanka jumps from left to right, a performance unique to the two good friends. There was also a scene in which Nagaya, Peppe, and Anami of the green-yellow society appeared, and “Vicke Blanka presents RAINBOW ROAD -Den-” ended with a great climax.
The set playlist for this performance is available on Spotify below, and from 10pm on June 26th (Wednesday), Space Shower TV will show live footage of only Bikkeblanka, as well as interviews and close coverage of the day. Furthermore, VK Blanka will release her new song “Never Run” the day after the performance, and will be holding a nationwide hall tour “VK Blanka HALL TOUR 2024” touring all 6 cities from September 27th (Friday). I’m already looking forward to the new stage.
