Report of BACARDI “Music Distillery” special live featuring tofubeats & Aile The Shota has arrived

The “BACARDI Sound Distillery House” POPUP Opening Event was held at ZeroBase Shibuya in Tokyo on Friday, May 10th.

“SOUND DISTILLERY” is a music project that started in May 2023, in which master blender tofubeats and up-and-coming artists create collaborative songs together with BACARDI. Like Bacardi rum, which is made through unique aging and blending, it is a place where many talents meet, mix, mature, and create completely new music. Then, the possibilities of music are released, and when the scent of synthesized sounds is released, people’s creativity is also released.

As the project’s first release in 2024, the collaboration song “Thrilling Moves” by tofubeats and Aile The Shota will be released on May 9th (Thursday). 30 fans who applied in advance gathered for a special live performance held as the opening event for a pop-up store to commemorate the event. The event started with a short greeting from Ryutaro Okumura, the brand’s director and also known as “Chief Mojito,” and then the event started with a DJ from tofubeats.

Starting with Camila Cabello’s “I LUV IT Feat. Playboi Carti,” which has roots in Havana, Cuba, like BACARDI, Yuki Chiba, who retired from KOHH, released a super hit song, followed by songs from BMSG, to which Aile The Shota belongs. The selection of songs that fit the context, such as “Team Friends (SKY-HI Remix)” in which SKY-HI participated, is as expected. Of course, they will mix in some of their own popular songs as well, and will brighten up ZeroBase Shibuya with a selection of songs that are full of party vibes.

During the performance, there was a scene where the MC self-praised, “This song is used in a BACARDI commercial overseas. It’s clever!” and drew laughter from the audience. After tofubeats raised the temperature of the venue with a selection of songs that evoked a tropical atmosphere, Aile The Shota appeared on stage. A big cheer goes up from the audience.

“First of all, please listen to this song that the two of us made,” tofubeats introduced, and the song they performed was “LOVE”, which will be released in 2022. Aile The Shota also excited the audience by asking, “Can you shake your body?”

Between songs, Aile The Shota says, “I’ve already drunk a Bacardi Highball.” They then toasted in Spanish, saying, “I toasted with tofu, but I haven’t seen you all yet, so let’s toast with you all! No, Salud!”, creating a sense of unity throughout the venue. Furthermore, since there is a large visual of Aile The Shota on the outside of the pop-up venue, they say, “During the pop-up period, please come to Shibuya and meet up in front of Aile The Shota.Isn’t he a superstar? (LOL) ),” said Aile The Shota, and tofubeats said, “That’s great. I’m jealous~ (lol),” which softened the atmosphere at the venue.

The second song was Aile The Shota’s new song “Thirilling Moves,” which “contains Aile The Shota’s feeling of ‘moving on even if it’s scary.'” Even though it had just been released, the voltage at the venue was at its maximum, as if they had been waiting for it. Aile The Shota delivers a powerful performance, accompanied by a fast-paced sound. Although it was a short live performance with only two songs, the two left the stage to loud applause.

The pop-up event is being held at the venue, ZeroBase Shibuya, until May 19th (Sunday). This is an opportunity to enjoy the world of “Sound Distillery” and Bacardi Highball, so be sure to check it out.
