Recochoku holds its first “music x education” experience session using digital technology for infants and elementary school students

[Background of the “Music x Education” experience session for children]

Recochoku operates with the mission of “maximizing the music market” and acts as a contact point for trial sessions.Alliance DivisionWe partner with companies in a wide range of industries,“Music ×〇〇”We are pursuing opportunities to create new music experiences that combine music with new added value.

This initiative is from Serio, which operates an after-school business that supports the healthy growth of children through various learning and play activities, to Recochoku.Music-themed social contribution activitiesWe started this business after receiving a consultation from someone. As a result, we have leveraged the strengths of both companies,Holding trial sessions based on the concept of “music x education”We have decided.

At the trial session, participants will be in charge of developing software and hardware at Recochoku in order to increase children’s interest in music and digital systems and provide them with an opportunity to have fun learning how to make things.NX Development Promotion DepartmentWe asked for cooperation.in department name“New eXperience”Last year, the department, which has multiple meanings, including“New Music Experience Laboratory” ProjectLaunched Japan’s largest DIY exhibition and presentation“Maker Faire Tokyo 2023 (hereinafter referred to as MFT)”We have a track record of creating and exhibiting works that provide a musical experience.

This time, we improved the specifications of the three works exhibited at MFT to suit the perspective of participating infants and elementary school students, and by making them easier to interact with, we hoped to draw out children’s interest and create new musical experiences. .

On the day of the event, Recochoku characters will be in the classroom.“Reco Chokuma”A costume has appeared. As the children cheered and got excited, Recochoku employees introduced how they are using digital technology to deliver music to many people. After that, the participants explained in easy-to-understand language how the three works based on the concept of music worked, and the approximately one-hour trial session began.

■Work 1: Cyrhythm

“Syrhythm” is an experiential music game based on the concept of “Music x Psyllium x Generative Art.” When players shake their psyllium in time with the rhythmic music of free materials, digital art called generative art is created depending on the swing. It will be drawn.

Also, when I dismantled the psyllium I used and explained that there was a small computer called M5StickCPlus inside, there was a voice of surprise as it contained a computer smaller than a personal computer or smartphone.

■Work 2: Recochokumamin

“Recochokumamin” reproduces the functions of a theremin (electronic musical instrument) in the form of a recochokuma. When you place your hand over the 3D printed Recochokuma, it will play a tone. It has a function that displays the keyboard on the monitor and expresses musical scales in an easy-to-understand manner, and the children were able to interact with music through Recochokumamin while facing the monitor.

■Work 3: Talking Pakuchans

Work 3: Talking PakchansWork 3: Talking Pakchans

The most popular item among the participants was “Chattering Pakuchans,” a healing robot that talks while moving in response to sounds and voices received from a communication device. When you talk to the communication device, nearby Paku-chans will react and chatter while chatting. The children liked the simple and easy-to-understand aspects of the program, such as adjusting the volume of their own voices to study the reactions of the “talking Pak-chans” and listening to what they were saying by holding it up to their ears. .

At the trial session, the children had fun touching the works and asking questions if they had any concerns. There was much more interest in the work we had prepared than we had originally anticipated, and Recochoku’s first attempt at an on-site experience event for children turned out to be very meaningful.

In recent years, education using digital technology has become more active, with programming classes becoming compulsory for elementary school students, and this trial session will be an opportunity for participants to get interested in music and digital, and to experience new discoveries and surprises. We believe that we have been able to provide the following.

As a company that creates new added value for music, Recochoku will continue to proactively propose solutions to challenges in corporate music utilization and digital utilization, explore collaborations with various fields, and expand our business in diverse fields. By combining this and advanced technology, we aim to create and provide a “new music experience.”
