Teikoku Kissa Releases Music Video for New Song “Tokyo Eki”

Teikoku Kissa has unveiled the music video for their recently released new song, “Tokyo Eki.” (It means “Tokyo Station”) The track was created with the theme that things far away are more beautiful, drawing parallels with long-distance relationships.

The music video expands on this theme to explore the relationship between fans and the artist, depicting a girl traveling from the countryside to a Teikoku Kissa solo live performance.

In a first for the music video, actor Seki Kokoro plays the protagonist, whose expressions change along with the development of the song.

The live performance scenes in a hall that perfectly matches the song’s atmosphere, and shots in front of Tokyo Station that replicate the jacket illustration, are simply impressive.

The direction was handled by the up-and-coming filmmaker Takagi Mimori, known for working on Cotton Candy’s “Fuzzy Navel” and Wednesday Campanella’s “Maneki Neko.” This marks the fourth collaboration for a Teikoku Kissa project.

Yuuki Sugiura (Gt.Vo), Akuri (Gt), Hikaru Hikita (Ba), Takuto Sugizaki (Dr)

Formed in the summer of 2020 by Yuuki Sugiura (Gt.Vo), Hikaru Hikita (Ba), and Takuto Sugizaki (Dr), who were all members of the Kansai University Light Music Club, originally just to perform at a university festival. Although the festival was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sugiura felt the band had potential and decided to keep it going.

In October 2021, their debut release, a four-track EP titled “”Kaiten,”” was independently released, quickly becoming a topic of conversation among early adopters in the music scene and achieving the top spot in Tower Records’ popular section “”Tower Crue”” in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. After Akuri, who had been handling all the band’s design work, officially joined as a guitarist, they released their 1st EP “”Machiawase”” in June 2022. They followed this with their debut single “”Gasoline Tank”” in July, their first album “”Teikoku Kissa”” in September, and another single “”Muffler”” in November, actively participating in club circuit events and festivals nationwide and recording full houses with their emotional live performances.

In 2023, they released their 2nd EP “”Ai ni Tsuite”” in February, selling out their first solo live show. On April 13th, Café Day, they held a special solo live event that included acoustic performances by the members and live painting. May saw the release of the new single “”Kisetsu Sura Oinuite,”” and in June, they participated in the “”Space Shower Retsuden JAPAN TOUR 2023.”” With the release of their second album “”Teikoku Kissa II: Kisetsu to Kimi no Record”” on October 4th, they embarked on their first solo tour “”Romance to the Streets of the World,”” covering 7 locations nationwide.

From March 1, 2024, they are set to go on their 2nd solo tour “”To the Place Where You Wait, A Spring Melody,”” covering 13 locations nationwide. Additionally, on April 13th, they have planned a self-organized live event “”Café Day 2024″” at Osaka Namba Hatch. The momentum of this creative collective, featuring the trio of melody makers Sugiura, Hikita, Sugizaki, and designer Akuri, shows no signs of stopping.
