Artist Profile: BAND-MAID

Formed in July 2013 around Miku Kobato (G, Vo), who was working at a maid café in Akihabara, BAND-MAID is a girls rock band consisting of five members: SAIKI (Vo), KANAMI (G), AKANE (Dr), and MISA (B). The band performs in maid outfits, referring to their live performances as “”servings”” and their fans as “”masters”” and “”mistresses,”” cultivating a unique style of engagement.

Contrary to their maid-like appearance, BAND-MAID’s hard rock sound has garnered support from fans and media worldwide, with over 190 million views on YouTube.

The global fanbase continuously releases reaction videos on YouTube, which have collectively amassed over 40 million views.

Gaining support from rock and metal fans worldwide, BAND-MAID has become one of the most popular girls bands overseas, with their 2022 US tour drawing an audience of over 20,000 people.

While shaking the stages of major festivals in Japan, BAND-MAID has conducted world tours almost annually. To date, they have toured the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, with each show recording sold-out performances.

In 2019, BAND-MAID announced a tour partnership with the world’s largest event organizer, “”Live Nation,”” and released the album “”CONQUEROR,”” produced by rock legend Tony Visconti.

In 2020, they announced an alliance with “”United Talent Agency”” for their expansion in the United States and released the album “”Unseen World.”” In 2021, they made their Hollywood debut in the Netflix movie “”Kate.””

In 2022, they performed at the globally renowned music festival “”AFTERSHOCK”” and completed a sold-out US tour with an audience exceeding 20,000. Following the US tour, they also performed at Guns N’ Roses’ Japan tour.

2023 marked their 10th anniversary, during which they held their 10th-anniversary tour worldwide, including performances at four major international festivals such as “”Lollapalooza,”” culminating in a final show at Yokohama Arena.

In 2024, they are embarking on a “”new chapter,”” with the release of their first full album in three years planned for the summer.
