SUNNY ONLY 1 releases new song “Utopia” that references the children’s song “Kagome Kagome”

SUNNY ONLY 1 released their new single “Utopia” today, Friday, May 31st.

SUNNY ONLY 1 is a singer/DJ who is also a member of the creative collective bala. Last year, he attracted attention with his work “Dance like a monkey,” in which he collaborated with Dongurizu no Mori.

This is his first solo release of 2024, and is an electroclash tune that references the folk song and children’s song “Kagome Kagome.” The song starts with a mysterious and solemn intro, and the hook features an oriental phrase “Kagome Kagome, the bird in the cage…” that creates a magical minimal groove. The song is reminiscent of the cyberpunk “utopia ≒ dystopia” worldview of Japan.

This album was produced by up-and-coming producer from London, who also worked on last year’s singles “so what?” and “WASH IT.”Noah Ingsis in charge of this.
