DEF LEPPARD releases new single "Just Like 73" featuring Tom Morello (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE etc.) digitally! Japan-only CD release also announced!

DEF LEPPARD has released a new single, “Just Like 73,” featuring Tom Morello (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE etc.) digitally!

It has also been decided that the CD will be released exclusively in Japan on August 2nd! In addition, a 7-inch analog single will be released exclusively for imports, and it will be released in two versions: a special edition colored vinyl exclusive to the UNIVERSAL MUSIC STORE, and a regular black vinyl.

This song is a memorable one, marking the first collaboration between the rock group and Tom Morello, the legendary guitarist, innovative musician, founding member of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and AUDIOSLAVE. The song, which is centered around the rhythm of DEF LEPPARD, features a powerful beat that is perfect for stadiums, a thick guitar riff, and a memorable chant, “Rock with me, just like 73!”. However, in the second half, the overwhelming chorus is replaced by Tom Morello’s intense guitar solo. Tom Morello then uses his unique tremolo arm to perform the final hook.

Regarding this song, which was the result of a collaboration between the two, Joe Elliott (vocals) said, “This song encapsulates the atmosphere of an era that is deeply ingrained in our DNA. We wanted to pay tribute to that glorious and irreplaceable time.” And Phil Collen (guitar) added, “When I saw DAVID BOWIE on TV around 1972 or 1973, everything I thought I knew about music changed from black and white to vibrant Technicolor.” “Just Like 73″ represents that ‘awakening.'”

“The solo on ‘Just Like 73’ was a blast to play,” says Tom Morello. “It’s been almost 40 years since I played ‘Rock Of Ages’ in a college cover band. And Def Leppard still rocks stadiums with new material. It’s one of their best tunes.”

Also, at midnight on June 21st, the animated music video for “Just Like 73” will be released! It will show the band and Tom Morello as you’ve never seen them before.
