The 23-member group Bokutai Mita Aozora (commonly known as Bokuao) debuted on August 30, 2023 as the official rival of Nogizaka46 with the song “Aozora ni wo Kangaeru” (Thinking About Aozora). At the end of 2023, they won the Newcomer Award at the 65th Japan Record Awards, and their second single “Graduation Made” released on January 31, 2024 was a hot topic as it was the first to use a selection system. Their third single is scheduled to be released on August 7.
During the one-man live show “1st Anniversary Commemoration 1st Anniversary Live Show vol.1” held today, June 22nd (Sat), Boku Ao no Mitai held in commemoration of their 1st anniversary, it was announced that they will be performing the theme song and insert song for the animated film “Ganbatte Ikimasshoi”. The venue was abuzz with excitement at the announcement of the theme song, and all 23 members of Boku Ao shared their joy.
Member Yagi Hitoshi expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I’m honored that BokuAo will be performing the theme song for the animated film version of the historic work ‘Ganbatte Ikimasshoi’! The characters in the story are the same generation as me, and the theme of ‘youth’ which is important to BokuAo overlaps with it, so I feel a certain affinity with it. We’d like to work together to make it a success!”
The animated film “Ganbatte Ikimasshoi” will be released nationwide on Friday, October 25, 2024. Set in the beautiful seas of Ehime, the film depicts high school girls who have dedicated their youth to boating and their growth together with their friends. The story is said to be heartwarming, as it is pushed forward by the girls’ fresh and straightforward feelings. The theme song by the idol group BokuAo, who are in the midst of their youth, adds a touch of glamour to this story. You’ll definitely want to go see it in theaters.
In addition, Aozora I Wanted to See also announced that they will hold their debut anniversary one-man live “Aozora Summer Festival 2024” at Toyosu PIT to coincide with their debut date of August 31st last year. The group is made up of 23 members selected from 35,678 applicants through a nationwide audition that began in February 2023. (Commonly known as Boku Ao) As the “official rival of Nogizaka46,” they made their debut on August 30, 2023 with “Aozora ni wo Kangaeru” (Thinking About the Blue Sky), and won the Newcomer Award at the 65th Japan Record Awards just six months after their debut. They released their second single “Sotsugyo Made” on January 31, 2024, and topped both the Oricon Daily Single Ranking and Billboard JAPAN “Top Singles Sales” charts. They held a one-man live show at Zepp DiverCity (TOKYO) to celebrate their first anniversary on June 22, 2024. Their third single is scheduled to be released on August 7, 2024.
