■ “Last year’s dance project was interesting and exciting because it was about breaking down boundaries. This year, the staff and I are racking our brains together to come up with something new, so I hope you’ll come and see it.” (Masahiro Nakai)
TBS has announced details of the dance project that will take place at “Ongaku no Hi 2024,” which will be broadcast for eight hours from 2:00 p.m. on July 13th.
Last year’s dance project, which was a hot topic due to its cross-agency dance collaboration, is even more powerful this year, with a total of 18 of Japan’s most popular dance and vocal groups gathering together.
The theme of this year’s dance project is “We’ve crossed the barriers! Now it’s time for a battle!” In addition to INI, &TEAM, THE RAMPAGE, J SOUL BROTHERS III, JO1, GENERATIONS, Snow Man, Da-iCE, DA PUMP, Chotokkyu TOMORROW X TOGETHER, Travis Japan, BE:FIRST, and FANTASTICS, female artists will also be taking part for the first time.
Participants will include New School Leaders, ME:I, Sakamichi Series (Nogizaka46, Sakurazaka46, Hinatazaka46), and 48 Group (AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, HKT48, NGT48, STU48).
Following on from last year, the dance project was produced by s**t kingz.
In addition, enthusiastic comments from TBS announcers Nakai Masahiro and Yasuzumi Shinichiro, who will serve as the show’s general hosts, as well as the show’s key visual, were also released.
■Comment from Masahiro Nakai
This year’s theme is “Hope! The power of music,” and the theme is hopeful music, hopeful artists, and a hopeful future. Although “Ongaku no Hi” has been broadcast many times, I think there will be artists who will be appearing for the first time and people who will be watching for the first time, so I approach each broadcast as if it were the first time.
Last year’s dance project was interesting and exciting because it was about breaking down boundaries. This year, we are working on something new together with the staff, so we hope you will come and see it.■ Shinichiro Yasuzumi, TBS announcer
This year we have a lot of plans, and we’re so ambitious that we can’t fit everything in (laughs), but I’m sure it’s a program that will satisfy you.
It’s an 8-hour live broadcast, so we’re excited to share the same time as everyone and feel the power of music. We’re particularly proud of the high level of cameras and audio on “Ongaku no Hi,” and we think we have an advantage in being able to convey the live atmosphere of the venue. We hope that even those who haven’t watched TV recently will have the experience of listening to music on TV.
