■Recent live versions of the album’s songs “Aoi Kuruma,” “Sunshine,” and “Immortal Venus” are included as bonus tracks!
On September 18th, Spitz will release “Sora no Tobikata 30th Anniversary Edition,” a 30th anniversary edition of their 1994 album “Sora no Tobikata.”
It’s soon been 37 years since Spitz’s first live performance. Since their 11th single “Robinson” became a hit, they have continued to produce signature songs for each generation, such as “Cherry,” “Kaede,” “Magic Words,” “Spring Song,” and “Yasashii Ano Ko,” and gained new fans with their 2023 single “Utsukushii Fin.”
The album that first made them known to many people, “Robinson,” was released in April 1995. Seven months prior, on September 21, 1994, their fifth album, “Sora no Tobikata,” was released.
Although it is not well known, their representative song “Sora mo Toberu Hazu” was released as their 8th single in April 1994, one year before “Robinson”, and the album version is included on “Sora no Tobikata”. It was used as the theme song for the drama “Hakusen Nagashi” that aired in January 1996, and the single was re-released, becoming a huge hit that sold millions of copies.
Other popular songs included are the classics “Aoi Kuruma” and “Spider,” making this truly a masterpiece album on the eve of their big break.
The 30th anniversary edition “Sora no Tobikata 30th Anniversary Edition” will include all 11 songs from the original album, as well as recent live versions of the album tracks “Aoi Kuruma,” “Sunshine,” and “Fushimi no Venus” as bonus tracks. It will be released in three limited formats: CD, cassette tape, and analog record.
The CD also comes with a Blu-ray containing three music videos that have been remastered in HD for the first time, and two songs from the rare live footage of the time of the release, “Spitz “Soratobi” JAMBOREE TOUR ’94.” The booklet also contains rare photos that were not used in the original, making it a must-have for fans.
