Hikaru Utada’s first greatest hits album “SCIENCE FICTION” surpasses 100 million total streams

Hikaru Utada’s greatest hits album “SCIENCE FICTION,” which began streaming on various digital music distribution services on April 10, has surpassed 100 million total streams (only in Japan *according to Universal Music).
*Only songs included in the album are included.

The best album “SCIENCE FICTION” started off by topping the Billboard JAPAN overall album chart “Hot Albums,” and also topped the “Download Albums” download album chart for the first half of 2024.

Furthermore, in the Oricon Weekly Digital Album Rankings announced on May 15th, it maintained its position for five consecutive weeks after debuting at number one, making it the first album in history by a female solo artist to do so for five consecutive weeks, making it one of the most representative albums of the first half of the year.

In addition, a vinyl version of the album was released on June 26th and ranked 6th in the Oricon Weekly Album Rankings announced on July 8th, demonstrating its long-lasting sales.

In conjunction with the start of her nationwide tour “HIKARU UTADA SCIENCE FICTION TOUR 2024” on July 13, a limited edition sticker featuring Utada Hikaru’s original “Local Bear” will be given away as a venue-only bonus for CD and video products. Customers will receive one sticker for free when they purchase one eligible product at the CD sales booth at each venue.
