The first day was “TOKYO CALLING Showcase supported by The Orchard Japan”, hosted by Japan’s largest live circuit event “TOKYO CALLING”. This showcase, which was held for the second time at SXSW following last year, featured six performers: Backdrop Cinderella, Chiaki Mayumura, Tokyo Seijutsu Impulse, HALLEY, CHAMELEON LIME WHOOPIEPIE, and Peelandar-Yellow.

The top batter is Peelander-Yellow, who is based in Austin. He stood on stage as a pinch hitter for the Uchikubi Gokumon Club, whose performance was unfortunately canceled, and sent a cheer to the Uchikubi Gokumon Club, saying, “I’ll be waiting here next year!” HALLEY, who emits sounds inspired by American music such as jazz, soul, and funk, completely transformed the venue into a calm mood. Chiaki Mayumura, a singing and singing track maker idol, dropped the essence of Japan’s proud idol culture with her happy vibes. CHAMELEON LIME WHOOPIEPIE’s Chi- (Vo.) jumps around the stage and stirs up the audience, turning the venue into a dance floor, while Tokyo Early Impulse’s Shina-chan (Vo.) delivers edgy punk rock with her fierce shouts. rang.

On the second day, “INSPIRED BY TOKYO” was presented by FRIENDSHIP, Spincoaster, and The Orchard Japan. The showcase aimed to introduce the next generation of artists from Japan and Asia through the keyword “TOKYO,” and six groups performed: The fin., Domico, Helsinki Lambda Club, Wez Atlas, Shirasa 1 Hibi, and luvis.

The audience enjoyed the moment as they swayed their bodies to the soothing beat of top batter Luvis, creating a chill mood. Hip-hop artist Wez Atlas livened up the venue with his light rapping and talk in a combination of English and Japanese, while The fin., who has a silky, smooth singing voice and a soft, mellow sound, created an even more funk groove with his saxophone tones. Ta. “Let’s have fun together!” Helsinki Lambda Club’s first cry was the beginning of their energetic live performance, and the venue was packed to capacity. After that, the surprise collaboration with Wez Atlas made things even more exciting. On a boring day, they raise the audience’s mood with a representative J-ROCK performance. Domico will close the showcase. Despite having a simple set of guitar vocals and drums, they captivated the audience with their flashy and edgy sound, and ended the stage with applause.
