Porno Graffitti’s 25th anniversary debut project, “Shimagotoporuno Exhibition,” began on July 20th.
The “Porno Exhibition” is a popular event that allows visitors to experience the history and trajectory of Porno Graffitti, and has been held twice in Tokyo in the past. This time, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut, they have teamed up with their hometown, Innoshima, and will be holding the entire island as a field.
At the opening ceremony to announce the start of the event, Akihito Okano and Haruichi Shindo made a surprise appearance. “At this turning point of our 25th anniversary, we wanted to give back to the people of the island who have been so kind to us,” said Okano, and “we hope this will be a memorable day for everyone’s summer,” said Shindo. They cut the ribbon alongside Hassa-kun (the image character for Onomichi and Innoshima) and the mayor of Onomichi.
■ Travel around the island with audio dramas that solve mysteries based on music and other motifs
The unique feature of the “Shimagotoporu Exhibition” is that it allows visitors to enjoy local interaction while using cutting-edge technology.
The main content of the event was the “Innoshima Mystery Solving Sound Walk.” This was a real-life mystery solving game where you go around the island listening to audio dramas that use your smartphone’s location information, and the story was inspired by Porno’s music.
Walking around the island where the two were born and raised while listening to their music will be a unique experience for fans. The mystery is also excellent, so even those who are not Porno fans can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Shimanami.
■The movie theater, photo studio, and legendary music shop are back!

It’s a revival of the music shop “Mitsuishiya” that the two of them went to in high school. The interior of the store has been recreated to look like it did back then, making it feel like you’ve traveled back in time to the Showa era. If you’re lucky, you’ll be greeted by Keiko Murakami, the former owner who watched over the two of them as they grew up.
Also, a movie theater will open on the island this summer only. There, they will be screening the opening performance of the rain-soaked live performance “Shimanami Roman Porno ’18 ~Deep Breath~” that was held in Bingo Sports Park in Onomichi City in 2018. The audience seats were filled with fans, and some could be seen swaying to the music.
In addition, the fan club’s “Poruno’s Memories Photo Gallery” will offer experiential amusements, including an exhibition of nostalgic and unpublished photos.
■Enjoy the charms of Innoshima’s cuisine at a gourmet festival packed with collaboration menus and a mobile cafe
While you can enjoy Porno’s music, don’t miss the content that lets you experience their Innoshima roots.
25 restaurants on the island are participating in the “Innoshima x Poruno Islandwide Gourmet Festival”. All restaurants are preparing menus themed around their songs, with a wide variety of items ranging from Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki to Onomichi ramen and sweets. There is also a vote to decide the grand prize restaurant, so it’s hard to decide which one to eat.
The collaboration cafe “Kissa Porno” held in 2019 has been updated to “Mobile Cafe Porno”. Three food trucks are stationed on the island, offering original menus.
■The love of porn among the people of Innoshima is evident everywhere.
In addition to all of this, what fans will be most pleased about is that the islanders’ love of porn can be felt everywhere.
The island was decorated with Porno flags, and a wrapped bus was running around celebrating the event. In the Habu Shopping Arcade, guitarist Haruichi Shindo’s hometown, local high school students created shutter art inspired by Porno Graffitti, and each store created their own hospitality goods.
In addition, the island is filled with porn, with special rules for the Shimanami Beach Sandal Jumping Festival, a competition to see who can fly the longest in beach sandals. The island is full of porn, and you can tell from the conversations with the locals and the scenery how much they are loved by the locals.
■ At the end of the event, a two-day outdoor live concert will be held in the local area.
The event will continue until September 8th, but the biggest fun is yet to come. An outdoor live performance, “Innoshima Yokohama Romance Porno ’24 ~ Kaihoku ~”, will be held at Innoshima Sports Park for two days on August 31st and September 1st. This will be the first time for the duo to hold a live performance on Innoshima Island with a general audience from outside the island.
The two expressed their aspirations, saying, “We want to make this the most memorable concert we’ve had in our 25 years” (Okano), and “We hope to create a concert that is filled with the atmosphere of the island and our music” (Shindo).
The “Porno x Hiroshima Project,” which was launched to liven up the world from their hometown with music, is now in its fourth installment. The hot and peaceful summer of Shimanami looks set to get even hotter this year.
