This time, we will be airing a special night featuring covers of famous songs by legendary singer Chiaki Naomi, who celebrates her 55th debut anniversary this year, performed by a number of amazing artists.
Since her debut in 1969, Naomi Chiaki has been loved for singing many hit songs. Even now, 32 years after her hiatus in 1992, there is still a demand for her singing voice. Meanwhile, on her debut day, June 10th, Chiaki Naomi’s hit songs were digitally distributed for the first time. Now, her singing voice and hit songs are attracting attention across generations and countries.
This special night will unravel the charm of Naomi Chiaki, centering on her cover performances from the past 11 years of “The Covers.” Artists who respect Naomi Chiaki will sing her classic songs and talk about their appeal.
The cover guest is Aya Shimazu. Known as the “singing monster” for her overwhelming singing ability, she made her world debut in July with a cover of the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin’s hit song under the name Aya Shimazu. She has also covered Naomi Chiaki’s hit song, and this time she will be performing “A House Where the Sun Shines (Asahirou).”
This is a traditional American folk song with Japanese lyrics by Maki Asakawa, sung by Chiaki, and is a classic song that is also called a “legendary masterpiece.” This time, this song will be delivered with a special arrangement by Nobuo Kurata, who has worked with Chiaki Naomi on many projects and live performances.
“Chiaki Naomi Classic Covers,” a show featuring performances from the program’s 11 years in the industry, will feature Chiaki’s signature work “Kachō” covered by Miyamoto Koji, Hitoto Yo’s cover of Tomokawa Kazuki’s “Yoru e Hashigu Hito,” a beloved classic covered by Mizuhara Hiroshi, covered by Go Hiromi, and Chiaki’s last single to date, “Akai Hana,” performed by Suzuki Masayuki.
The guest speaker will be Galantique Kazue (from Hoshikuzu Scat), a huge fan of Naomi Chiaki and a fan of her many hit songs. Taking over the store where the cover photo for Naomi Chiaki’s 1972 album “Another Me” was taken, she will delve deeper into the appeal of Naomi Chiaki’s work.
