Cwondo and uku kasai’s new project Oni has launched, releasing their first single “Datsu / Enn” today

Oni, a new project by Cwondo and uku kasai, has launched. They released a two-song single, “Datsu / Enn,” today, July 31st (Wednesday).

Oni, which was formed at a soba restaurant somewhere in Tokyo, is a new project that aims to become a band in the future. The current members are Cwondo, who is active in No Buses as Kondo Taisui (Gt., Vo.) and also releases electronic music works as a solo artist that are dialogues about production and life, and SSW uku kasai, who works on experimental electronic pop rooted in left-field dance music. After resonating through their collaboration on the 2022 single “Look Blue” and event appearances, Oni was formed after a conversation at a soba restaurant asking, “Would you like to make music together in your old age?” and “If that’s the case, why not do it now?”

For this album, “Datsu / Enn,” each member contributed their own main phrases, and the English lyrics were written by Cwondo, while the Japanese lyrics were written by uku kasai. The two artists contributed their fuzzy voices to a track with a limited number of sounds, with the band format in mind, creating a debut album with a heavy summer atmosphere.
