Monogatary.com is a novel submission site where users can freely submit “stories” to “topics” given by the site’s management every day, and have fun reacting to them in various ways, such as adding illustrations and comments. The past contest “Monogatary 2019” hosted by the site attracted a lot of attention, such as the birth of “YOASOBI,” a unit that turns novels into music, which has been extremely successful, with their hit song “Idol” reaching number one on the global charts.
“READ” is a collaborative project from “monogatary.com” featuring up-and-coming creators, mainly novelists, artists, and illustrators.
We will be releasing a few original songs and lyric videos based on the novels every month. It goes without saying that the original novels are fascinating, so please enjoy the reinterpretations of the novels by popular artists and creators.
We are now pleased to announce that “READ” has digitally released a new song, “Nomikomu,” by singer Eye, who is also active as the vocalist for the music unit “Suisogurashi,” and up-and-coming Vocaloid producer Imanishi, who mainly focuses on band sounds and incorporates various musical genres.
Eye is a singer who is also active as part of the music unit “Suisogurashi,” whose debut song “I Love You Even Though It’s a Liar” has been viewed over 3 million times on YouTube. With a wide variety of vocal tones and rich expressiveness that she can freely manipulate to match the songs, she is proactive in providing singing in a featured format in addition to posting “cover songs,” and has released songs in collaboration with many music producers.
With Eye on vocals, the song is produced by the up-and-coming Vocaloid producer Imanishi.
Imanishi is a Vocaloid producer who is currently on the rise, incorporating various music genres, mainly band sounds, and sublimating them into his own style. His debut work, “Optimist,” became a hot topic on Nico Nico Douga, and “Stockholm Waltz” has been viewed 300,000 times on YouTube.
The new song “Nomikomu” released today is based on the novel “It Was Like a Convenience Store Love” posted on monogatary.com. The story depicts the slowly creeping end of two people who are not yet fully in love. Please enjoy listening to the novel and the audio.
What’s more, Shibucha, a popular illustrator who has been making waves with his pixel art illustrations, was in charge of the artwork and lyric video for the song “Nomikomu.”
