“THE GREAT SATSUMANIAN HESTIVAL”, which was launched in 2018 as a music festival aimed at promoting culture in Kagoshima, will be held on Sakurajima for the first time in five years this October. The first lineup of performers for “THE GREAT SATSUMANIAN HESTIVAL 2024”, which will be held on October 26th and 27th at Minami-Ei Lease Sakurajima Square & Ground in Kagoshima City, has been announced!

■About the GREAT SATSUMANIAN HESTIVAL 2024

THE GREAT SATSUMANIAN HESTIVAL was held for the first time in 2018. It has been six years since then, and although we started out feeling our way around the first event and faced many challenges, we were able to attract many visitors.

The second event in 2019 was better known than the first year, and the third event in 2020 was supposed to be a “hop, step, jump!” event, making use of what we learned and reflected on from the past two events. However, the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020. We dared to hold the event, groping our way through pitch-black darkness that suddenly ended, but it was to no avail.

During these three years, there were many times when I felt like giving up, but I was always saved by the voices of those who supported Hess.

The third event was finally held, and a ray of light shone through the darkness, and we arrived in Hioki City. We are truly grateful to everyone at OLIVER LAND, who co-hosted the event, the audience who agreed and came even though the location changed, the local community who cooperated, the companies, the government, the local government, the restaurants, Kagoshima United FC, Kagoshima Rebnise, the artists who performed, and everyone who was involved in so many ways. In 2023, we were able to hold the special edition “Olibanian”.

And now, in 2024, Hess will return to Sakurajima. We apologize for the late announcement.
Some people may have left the festival when it was held on Sakurajima, while others may have found out about Hess at the Hioki festival. Do you have fond memories of both Sakurajima and Hioki?
What kind of Hess will this year be? If I had to say, I think this year’s Hess will be a mix of all those fun things.
