■Students are attracted to each other at a school where dating between boys and girls is prohibited. 12 stills capturing their tense expressions have been released!
Twelve stills from the Netflix series “Renai Battle Royale,” starring Ai Mikami and Miyase Ryuya, which will be released worldwide on August 29th, have been released all at once.
The sensational trailer released the other day has been a hot topic, but this time a number of stills have been released that lavishly capture the dark and thrilling world of the film.
As the school rules prohibiting dating between boys and girls heat up the leaking battle between students, the protagonist Yuichika (Ai Mikami) begins her work as a “love keeper” who accepts money from violators without revealing her true identity and erases evidence photos in order to save her mother, who has been left with a huge debt from her ex-husband. There are meaningful shots of her gazing into the distance with a heavy expression, her hood pulled down low and a smartphone in her hand, as well as Maki (Miyase Ryuya) approaching Yuichika.
The scenes also make it difficult not to imagine the worries, conflicts, and love lives each of them faces, as Kanda (Mizusawa Rintaro) looks as if he is about to plead for something, and Miyama (Toyota Yudai) has a sparkling expression as he visits Shinoda (Hoshi Moeka), a school counselor he has a crush on.
Fujino (Akita Shiori), who takes the initiative to patrol the city as a “rabbit hunter” to monitor student relationships, has a surprised expression on her face, and there are also scenes that make you wonder what she’s looking at. At first glance, it seems like a heart-warming scene, with Rinki (Nakayama Shoki) holding hands with Ichinose (Honda Kyoya) on campus, and Yuichika putting her arms around Maki’s neck and looking at each other, but it is a thrilling scene that takes place at a school where romance is prohibited.
And there is a stunning shot of Principal Ikushima (Terajima Shinobu), the school’s absolute authority in enforcing the school rule that prohibits dating between boys and girls, standing majestically at the podium. There are also plenty of other scenes that make you curious to see how they will turn out, such as a shot that hints at a forbidden relationship between a teacher and a student, and a shot of two female students about to kiss.
A former female student who broke the school’s rules prohibiting dating between boys and girls and was advised to voluntarily withdraw from school after she dropped out has filed a lawsuit against the school corporation. This film is based on actual events, and extensive research was conducted on the Z generation’s views on romance, incorporating their opinions into the original story.
Gen Z viewers who watched the show in advance left many rave reviews, including “It was thrilling and exciting, and very entertaining,” “When you think of school dramas, you think of ‘youthful’ dramas, but I thought this was another interesting drama about a boy and girl being attracted to each other despite the rule that boys and girls are not allowed to date,” “I couldn’t stop watching because I wanted to know what would happen next,” and “I empathized with each character and watched while thinking about what I would do if I were in their situation.” 85% of viewers responded that they empathized with the story and characters. The satisfaction level was an astounding 95%. (According to a Netflix survey)
