Friends to release 7-inch album with cover of Miki Imai’s “A bouquet of kisses in the rain”

It has been announced that Friends will be releasing a commemorative 7-inch single, “A Bouquet of Kisses in the Rain,” to celebrate their upcoming 10th anniversary since their formation on Wednesday, December 4th.

The A-side features a cover of “A bouquet of kisses in the rain,” also known as the second opening theme for “YAWARA!”, an anime adaptation of the manga by Naoki Urasawa. Composed by KAN of SSW, this classic song was also included on Miki Imai’s fifth original album, “retour” (released in 1990), and is reimagined with the colorful pop sound that is characteristic of Friends. This track is also available on the YouTube channel of “Newtro,” a music project that reimagines “classic songs from the past (Retro)” and creates new works for the “present and future (New).”

The B-side features a re-recorded version of “Dance at Night,” one of their signature songs from the band’s early days. The arrangement was done by DJ/producer TAAR, and it is a special version titled “Dance at Night (10th Anniversary MIX).”

The key visual for the artwork is a cute piece by Mizuno Hiro, who is also in charge of illustrations for the “Newtro” collaboration project.
