Universal Music LLC (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Fujikura Hisashi; hereinafter referred to as “Universal Music”) will release Mori Calliope’s second album “PHANTOMIME” on Friday, August 16th.
Making her major debut in 2022, Mori Calliope is a VTuber artist who captivates music fans around the world with her unique lyrics that mix Japanese and English and her outstanding rap skills. Her latest EP “JIGOKU 6” ranked first on the iTunes Album Rock Chart in nine countries and regions around the world, as well as on the US Billboard World Album and Top Album Sales. Her song “Go-Getters,” the ending theme for the currently airing TV anime “Isekai Suicide Squat,” is also a hot topic.
This is the second album, and it is a work that contains a message that you should not live for others, but for yourself, and that you should find hope even in the midst of suffering. The album title “PHANTOMIME” is a combination of “PHANTOME” and “PANTOMIME”, and expresses the struggles of virtual artist Mori Calliope (PHANTOME) as she performs (PANTOMIME). From Japan, Jean-Ken Johnny (MAN WITH A MISSION), Yaffle, and Lotus Juice have contributed songs. From overseas, WARGASM and LUSS have contributed songs, and Yoon (STAYC) has participated as a remixer.
To commemorate the release of this work, a collaboration campaign with Tower Records will be held. Special receipts with Mori Calliope’s signature and comment will be issued, standee panels will be displayed in stores, and a collaboration with X will be held. In addition, Animate Ikebukuro Main Store will hold a giveaway campaign where customers who purchase the CD will be entered into a lottery to win a promotional poster signed by Mori Calliope.
