[m-flo]Appearing at SUMMER SONIC 2024 for the first time in five years! Exciting the packed venue!

M-flo, who celebrated the 25th anniversary of their major debut this year, appeared at SUMMER SONIC TOKYO, which was held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on Saturday, August 17th.

On this day, they appeared on the MOUNTAIN STAGE as m-flo (). As loves artists, eill, TAIL (Mukai Taichi), YOSHIKA, Maya, and Minami (CREAM) appeared in collaboration and performed a special live show. They performed a total of 14 songs, including their first new song in 4 years, “HyperNova.”

Despite it being an emergency appearance, a nearly full audience packed into the Mountain Stage, the largest in the Messe area.

☆Taku Takahashi and VERBAL appeared on stage and the long-awaited live performance started with “gET oN!” It had been a while since their last appearance at a summer festival, but their natural performance skills instantly raised the excitement in the venue.

Minami (CREAM) appeared as the first “loves” artist for the second song, “Perfect Place.” She also showed off her delicate and supple vocals in the following song, “All I Want Is You.” Her well-coordinated stage performance with VERBAL was outstanding.

During the MC, VERBAL said, “We’ve reached our 25th anniversary. This year has been a very special year, and good things have been happening one after another. I had said, ‘I want to perform at Summer Sonic,’ and actually we did (laughs). Even though it was at the last minute, a miracle happened when I asked my friends if they would join us.” (VERBAL) He expressed his gratitude to the artists who took part and the audience who had gathered, despite the decision to appear being made at the last minute.

Young R&B singers eill and TAIL (Mukai Taichi) appeared on the show to perform “tell me tell me,” a song that had never been performed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the first time live.
The mellow and cute mic relay by TAIL and eill, and VERBAL’s unique rap that mixed in Korean transformed the floor into a happy dance floor.

Maya, a high school student singer living in the US, appears on the new song “HyperNova”, released for the first time in about four years. The collaboration was created as a love call from the two, who were captivated by her voice after she posted on social media, playing and singing “Just the two of us”. Following their debut live performance in Shibuya at the end of July, today was their second performance, and the audience responded with high excitement to her vocal presence and magnificent staging. The venue swayed comfortably to m-flo’s first Jersey club sound.

The stage was generous with hits such as “Lotta Love” and “Come Again,” which drew cheers at the intro, and “Been So Long,” a representative song from m-flo’s early days. For the last tune, YOSHIKA, who had selected a Bob Marley T-shirt for the day, appeared on stage with a refreshing “Let’s sing together!” He performed the gem of a ballad, “Let Go,” in a summery Reggae Disco Rockers Remix version, and sang along well while drawing the audience in.

At the end of the show, the “loves” artists who had enlivened the stage reappeared with smiles on their faces. The m-flo stage came to a close after creating the best “summer memories” with the audience.

This year, m-flo has been making a lot of exciting news, such as resuming live performances for the first time in about five years and releasing a new song for the first time in four years. As it is the 25th anniversary year of their debut, their future developments are sure to be of interest.

It was a miraculous Summer Sonic!
We had been talking about wanting to perform at Summer Sonic next year, and then in a truly miraculous way, we were able to secure an appearance. In a short space of time, we were able to gather all these wonderful artists and perform a live show that was just like us. We’re really grateful!

When it was decided that we would be performing, the tickets had already sold out, so we were wondering how many people would come, but when we got on stage there were a really big audience and it was a great show, so we hope we can do it again next year!
