This year marks the 24th anniversary of Koda Kumi’s debut, and she is currently on her best single tour “KODA KUMI LIVE TOUR 2024 ~BEST SINGLE KNIGHT~”, which is visiting 26 locations across the country.
On August 18th, Koda Kumi held a live concert, “Koda Kumi SPECIAL LIVE in Shimonoseki supported by BOAT RACE Shimonoseki,” to commemorate the opening of the “J:COM Arena Shimonoseki.”
The venue, J:COM Arena Shimonoseki, is a new Shimonoseki City General Gymnasium that was opened in August 2024 within Shimonoseki Sports Park. It features the largest main arena in the prefecture (with three basketball courts), a multipurpose hall and four multipurpose rooms, a bouldering wall, and a 250m running course, making it a facility that can accommodate everything from promoting citizen health and sports activities to hosting large-scale tournaments and events.
As soon as the familiar Cutie Honey intro started, the excitement in the venue rose, and just when it seemed like Koda was about to appear, impersonator Yashiro Yu appeared with a dancer.
The venue was filled with shock and laughter at the unexpected surprise.
Afterwards, Yashiro called for an attack video to be played, and then Kumi Koda appeared with the intro to “BE MY BABY” playing!!
They captivated fans with a variety of songs, including “Butterfly,” “Ai no Uta,” and “Trust・Last,” the theme song for Kamen Rider Geets that attracted a lot of attention.
In addition, Yashiro Yu, who appeared at the opening, appeared on stage again.
The collaboration between the original and “Cutie Honey” got the crowd excited.
The set list of the songs performed today has been made into a playlist on various subscription distribution sites and is currently being distributed to great acclaim.

After the live performance, Avex will hold a program called “Avex Class,” in which artists, talents, and creators that the company has been working with since 2022 will visit educational institutions across the country and teach children the importance of “the power to believe in talent and dreams” through their own experiences.
During the talk and lesson program, led by Koda herself, the children’s eyes lit up as she talked about how she decided to become an artist, the obstacles she faced, and the rewards of her work.
