It has been decided that Tsuyoshi Kusanagi will be the new character in the TV commercial for the job recruitment website “Engage.”

■New TV commercial “Engagement Song (Appearance)” Commercial story
Kusanagi appeared on stage with a loud voice saying, “Hello!” To the tune of “Shigoto sagashi wa, engage…”, he and people from various professions surrounded him and rhythmically waved their arms.

As the song progresses, “♪Changing jobs and part-time jobs are also engaged, new graduates and part-timers are also engaged…”, Kusanagi steps more and more lightly. He runs onto the illuminated stage and calls out to everyone, “Changing jobs too!”, “Part-time jobs too!”, “New graduates too!”, and “Part-timers too!”

As the review reaches a grand finale with, “Engage, the job site for everyone!”, Kusanagi, holding his smartphone, smiles broadly and says, “Engage, the job site for everyone!”

■ Filming episodes
Kusanagi entered the studio full of energy and said, “Nice to meet you!” First, he was given a lesson on the dance that is the most eye-catching part of the new commercial.

Kusanagi was delighted with the distinctive choreography, which involves rhythmic steps and alternating arm swings, saying, “It’s amazing! How did you come up with (this choreography)? It’s genius!”

When filming began, Kusanagi performed a perfectly synchronized dance with the 40 cast members, all dressed in costumes representing various professions. During breaks in filming, he checked the dance scene that had just been filmed on the monitor and chatted with the cast, saying, “There was a groove!” The filming proceeded in a bright and friendly atmosphere from start to finish.

Looking back on the shoot, Kusanagi smiled and said, “It was great. The happy, positive atmosphere pushed us forward, and everyone’s concentration was united, so I think we were able to shoot a fantastic commercial that is energetic and forward-looking.”

“The choreographer who came up with the dance is a genius. This choreography in the Reiwa era?!…It’s gone through two or three times now, and I think it’s the newest choreography right now,” he said, praising the unique dance.

“At first I wondered if this was okay, but as I continued doing it I became addicted to it. I think if everyone danced this dance, their work would go better,” he said.

During the filming of the new commercial, Kusanagi danced in costumes of various professions, so we asked him if there was any profession other than acting that he would like to pursue.

“I love denim, so I would like to become a denim craftsman in Okayama who pays attention to the fabric and develops my own models,” says Kusanagi.

He also mentioned that one thing he keeps in mind when taking on a new job is “not to be afraid of failure.”

“It’s better to fail. Especially when you’re young, you get depressed and worried when you fail. But when you look back, it’s often the failure that leads to success later on, so I think the most important thing is to keep moving forward without being afraid of failure,” he advised.
