The latest trailer for the film version of “Grand Maison Paris” (to be released in winter 2024), a hit drama starring Kimura Takuya, has been released, using footage from the film.
In France, where French restaurants are crammed with three-star Michelin restaurants, the new team of Grand Maison Paris, led by Obana (Kimura), is attempting to become the first Asian to receive three stars in French cuisine. However, various obstacles stand in the way of this challenge in a foreign land, and Obana, who feels frustrated every day, is finally told by his former teacher to “get out of France.”
Obana is anxious that his restaurant will disappear if it does not achieve three stars, so he repeatedly clashes with his team. However, the video is an emotional one that shows the team coming together again as they work towards the goal of “pushing open the door to three stars with everyone’s help.”
The film was shot on location in Paris in March, with the main cast attempting to act in French as well as Japanese. The trailer also shows beautiful Parisian scenery and conversations in French, offering a glimpse into the world of the film, which has been scaled up from the TV series.
At the end, using a skewered dish as a microphone, Rinko (Suzuki Kyoka) asks Chef Obana in an interview-style manner, “Are you planning to get three stars? Chef Obana?” Obana coldly calls her an “old lady,” but Rinko quickly hits back in a scene that gives the impression of the intimacy they have built up since the TV drama. Though the setting has moved to Paris, the way their interactions have remained unchanged makes anticipation for the film even higher.
