Asuka Saito has been appointed to the YouTube channel “Hot Pepper Beauty TV” of Hot Pepper Beauty, Japan’s largest hair salon, relaxation and beauty salon search and reservation service. The first video, “Look Back My Beauty Part 1”, has been released.
■Saito Asuka’s simple favorite items revealed! What’s the number one item she can’t let go of?
In this photoshoot, Saito reveals her favorite items. Most of what she pulls out of her beautifully aged leather bag, “a hand-me-down from my mother,” are simple items such as combs, glasses, books, and wet tissues. When asked which of these items she can’t live without, she answered, “Number one, by far, is lipstick. There is a product that I can’t live without, and I was really in trouble when it was temporarily taken off the market. Number two is eye drops. I suffer from dry eyes, so they’re essentials. Number three is either disinfectant or earphones…I use disinfectant as often as possible, and I can’t use other people’s earphones.”
■It’s surprising that Saito, with her smooth and beautiful hair, is practicing…
Saito is also famous for her smooth, shiny, brownish hair. Her hair is “virgin” and has never been dyed or permed, but she says, “I was told at school that it was brown, but when I tell them I’m half-Japanese, they understand and it’s not a problem.” Her usual hair care routine is simple, using oil and mist and drying it with a hair dryer. She is currently practicing using curling irons. “The truth is, I can’t use curling irons. I thought it was terrible that I’m 26 and still can’t curl my own hair, so I bought two curling irons and special oil to try, but no matter how many times I tried, it just didn’t work. I’m learning by watching videos of ordinary people on YouTube,” she confessed.
■ “Sometimes it’s better to relax” – A life-sized message from Saito
Saito said, “I don’t usually wear makeup,” and confessed that she is a drugstore freak, saying, “I can go to the drugstore every month to buy my beauty products, and I can buy them to my satisfaction. I like drugstores quite a bit, and I buy things like moisturizing lotions.” When asked when she put the most effort into beauty, she replied, “When I was in the group. Everyone had their own cuteness, so I thought, ‘I have to be cute too,’ and ‘I have to have beautiful skin,’ and there was a time when I went to beauty salons and facial massages. I may have been self-satisfied at the time. I wanted to be seen as pretty and cute. But now that I’m relaxed, I think there are some good things about me.” She also sent a message to those who are worried about beauty, saying, “I think it’s great that people are working hard on beauty. However, it’s best for everyone to not push themselves too hard and not get too caught up in beauty, and to live peacefully.”
