Fuji TV and Sony Music's music x comedy project! Legs and Backs Genki Classroom x Higan to make major debut

“Late Night Honey!! Bee the Top” is broadcast on Fuji TV every Sunday from 12:30am to 12:58am.

On the show, eight groups of “honey comedians” were matched with promising young indie artists to form a unit, and for the past month, they have been working towards a major debut. On August 25th, at the “Hachi Fes” held at the special stage (ISLAND♡STADIUM) in “Odaiba Adventure King 2024”, all eight groups performed their songs for the first time, and the winning unit was decided to be Ashikoshi Genki Classroom x Higan.

The theme of the songs was “songs that make you want to wave a towel around,” and each unit performed eight diverse songs that they had created with great care, to the great excitement of the venue. The winners were a unit consisting of the young comedian Ashikoshi Genki Kyoushitsu, known for his distinctive appearance and unique worldview, and the current university student rapper Higan, who is active in many MC battles. The song they performed, “SOFUBO,” was inspired by “things you want to do in the summer,” and as the title suggests, it is a song about grandparents. The shocking and haunting lyrics of the chorus, “Grandparents will someday become skulls,” attracted attention immediately after it was released on the program’s official TikTok account.

After winning, Kurosawa (Ashikoshi Genki Classroom) said, “I’m surprised! I’m really happy because we worked hard to win!”, and Uchida (Ashikoshi Genki Classroom) said, “The performance was perfect! The number of views on the TikTok (released in advance) fluctuated so I was worried, but Higan-chan did a great job and GP from Gaki Ranger (who was in charge of the track) made a great song, so I think we got this result!”

Higan also commented, “It was so much fun! I don’t think I could have gotten this far on my own, so it was all thanks to the support of the two of them, and I was inspired in so many ways. When I was at a rap event, people around me in the waiting room started talking about the lyrics, and the lyrics are well-received by rappers, so I’d like to keep going like this!”

Anticipation is building for their activities as artists, with their digital release scheduled for the end of September. A CD is also scheduled for release at the end of October. A music video is also being produced, so keep an eye on their activities.

It was also announced during the event that the seven units that did not win would also have their songs released exclusively online.

The cover photo, like the artist photos, was supervised by the culture magazine “Quick Japan” based on the concept of “young comedians x young artists x young photographers”. The cover photos were carefully designed by eight young photographers to match each unit. The digital release is also scheduled for the end of September.
