■ “(Morita Go) doesn’t fit into a box, so from the beginning” (Mitsushima Shinnosuke)
“Meshidora Kanechika & Shinnosuke’s Gourmet Drive” (Nippon TV) airs every Saturday from 11:55. On the September 7th broadcast, Kanechika Daiki (EXIT) and Mitsushima Shinnosuke traveled to Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture with guest Morita Go.
Morita Go was waiting in the pouring rain. When he turned around, he looked so cool! Morita and Mitsushima had previously co-starred in a play directed by Yukio Ninagawa, and Mitsushima’s excitement was high from the start of the show as they met again after such a long time.
The three of them headed to “a.myu&kitchen” first. As soon as they entered the store, Morita was intrigued by the ornamental plants there. Morita fluently recited the difficult plant names “Agave,” “Pachypodium gracilis,” and “Oberculicaria pachypus.” “I don’t know much about them, but I like them,” he said, showing a surprising side of himself.
It’s also cool to see Morita talk about his own transformation with the garden of a cafe renovated from an old house in the background. Looking at the drinks that are brought out, Morita says, “Let’s drink this and then go home,” and “We’ve talked so much.” “I won’t let you,” says Kanechika. As they light-heartedly chat about how Morita looks like he’d be a fast runner and how 100% of his fans are male, the food is brought out. Mitsushima and Kanechika eat the curry and French toast that have been brought out, frolicking around as usual. Morita also seems to be enjoying himself as he joins in the conversation, but when asked, “Aren’t you going to eat?” he answers, “I’m not eating,” and “Can I go smoke a cigarette?”
Meshidora is a fairly free-spirited show, but this is the first time we’ve seen such a free-spirited guest. Seeing this, Mitsushima shows 100% understanding, saying, “It doesn’t fit into the frame, so let’s start from the beginning.” Morita takes just two bites of the shaved ice that is brought out next, and seems satisfied. Is this Meshidora really a Meshidora?
The exchange that follows between Morita, who acts like an older brother and says, “What’s wrong, since you know what I used to look like?”, and Mitsushima, who acts like a younger brother and says, “It’s really awkward since you know what I used to look like…”, is very heartwarming, but no one realizes at the time that this would later lead to a major tragedy.
Next up was the “Jump Power Trampoline” where you can enjoy trampolining. The three trampoline beginners started jumping timidly at first, but gradually they got better. Among them, Morita showed his athletic ability and improved quickly, but Mitsushima, seeing this, also tried a difficult move. And then, the biggest disaster since the program began…
Mitsushima failed in her attempt to perform a trick and fell flat on her face! While Morita and Kanechika continue to improve on the trampoline, Mitsushima’s mood is clearly plummeting. Will the show work with a listless Mitsushima, a Morita who barely eats, and the usual Kanechika (lol)?
The next restaurant was an authentic Italian restaurant called “Italian table BENCIA”. Here, another fact was revealed. When Kanechika asked Morita, who didn’t want to eat anything, “I’m surprised you gave me permission to appear on a program called Meshidora,” Morita replied, “Oh! Is that so? So that’s why you’re eating?” It seemed he had finally understood the purpose of the program. He seemed to look at Mitsushima and Kanechika and say, “You seem to have a normal appetite.”
He finally understood the purpose of the program, but when Morita was offered the food that was brought out next, he gave the same answer: “I don’t want it. I’m going to go have a cigarette.”
The last place we went to today was the billiards hall “Straight Pool.” Here we decided to play a game to decide who would pay for the trip. With loosely decided rules, it seemed like it would go on forever, but who would win?
