THE ORAL CIGARETTES’ new song “UNDER and OVER” has been chosen as the opening theme song for the TV anime “In the Next Life, I Want Someone Else” which will begin airing on October 7th.

The original work is a hugely popular comic by Konishi Asuka, currently being serialized in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine. It is a yakuza entertainment story that is full of thrills and crazy love and hate, centering around Somei Yoshino, the granddaughter of the boss of Somei-gumi, a direct descendant of Kansai’s largest gang, Kirigaya-gumi, and Miyama Kirishima, the granddaughter of the head of Miyama-ikka, a direct descendant of Kanto’s largest gang, Tokusa-kai. It has gained overwhelming support, especially from female readers.

It has been about three years since Oral last sang an anime theme song. Vocalist and guitarist Takuya Yamanaka commented, “I am very honored to be in charge of the opening theme song for the TV anime ‘In the Next Life, I Want to Be Someone Else.’ I tried to express in my own way the emotions that fluctuate between the comical and heartwarming aspects and the serious and crazy aspects of the story. I think it turned out to be an exciting song that makes the most of the unique and unfathomable characters and worldview! This work is out of the ordinary! I am truly happy to have been involved in such an amazing work!”

In addition, Toshifumi Kawase, director of the TV anime series “In the Next Life, I Want Someone Else,” commented, “I believe that the opening theme of an animation should be something that encapsulates the worldview of the work. I think that “UNDER and OVER” is a wonderful song that matches the worldview of “In the Next Life, I Want Someone Else.” The opening video is also made to have a hint of a love story within a Japanese-style hard-boiled touch. Introduction

Somei Yoshino is the marriage partner of her grandfather, Somei Renji, the boss of the Somei-gumi, a direct descendant of the Kansai region’s largest yakuza group, the Kirigaya-gumi.

He ends up living with the Miyama Ikka, a direct descendant of the Tokusa-kai, the largest yakuza group in Kanto, where Miyama Kirishima lives.

Kirishima warmly welcomes Yoshino and is a refreshing, friendly young man who is hard to believe comes from a yakuza family. Yoshino, who had been anxious about being in an unfamiliar place, breathes a sigh of relief.

……but!!

Due to a certain incident, Yoshino comes face to face with Kirishima’s true nature.
