■ “I’m glad that Yagi-san was cast as Minami-kun. Thank you so much!” (Iinuma Ai)
The TV Asahi drama “Minami-kun is My Lover!?” will air its final episode on September 10th with the eighth episode.
Before the final episode was broadcast, Iinuma Ai, who plays the main character Chiyomi, and Yagi Yusei (FANTASTICS), who plays Minami-kun, successfully wrapped up filming.
Iinuma, who has just completed his first leading role in a Golden Prime time drama, was overcome with emotion as filming was completed with the Horikiri family – Kimura Yoshino, Takeda Shinji, Kaga Mariko, Muroi Shigeru who plays Chaco, and Yagi Yusei – looking on.
Looking back on the past three months, she said, “It felt like it went by in a flash, but also like it was long…” and she also expressed her gratitude to the cast and staff, saying, “I had a lot of worries before filming started, but thanks to everyone who was so kind and warm, I was able to act every day with peace of mind. Thank you.”
Then, turning to Yagi, she said, with a slightly trembling voice, “I’m glad that Yagi-san was cast as Minami-kun,” and with tears in her eyes, she smiled and said, “Thank you so much!” Finally, she held up a bouquet of flowers and declared energetically, “I’ll work hard so that I can work with you all again!”, bidding farewell to the “Chiyomi role” with whom she had spent the summer.
Meanwhile, Yagi wrapped up filming in front of the familiar green screen. After receiving a bouquet from Iinuma, who rushed over, he expressed his appreciation for the staff who made this film, saying, “I think the staff must have worked hard on this film.”
She then frankly confessed, “While I was working on this production, I was worried about whether I would be able to act well in a role that has now become 15 centimeters tall, but thanks to everyone’s support, I gained confidence as I continued working.I am filled with gratitude.”
The main cast of the drama also wrapped up filming with smiles and excitement in common.
Just like the work itself, we departed from the world of “Minami-kun is My Lover!?” and into the next world in a warm atmosphere.
■ September 10th (Tuesday) broadcast final episode synopsis
Chiyomi (Iinuma Ai) and Minami-kun (Yagi Yusei)’s feelings for each other are getting stronger. They finally tell the secret to the Horikiri family, Shintaro (Takeda Shinji), Yuriko (Kaga Mariko), Kaede (Kimura Yoshino), and Hisako = Chako (Muro Shigeru), who is like family to them, and enjoy fireworks as a memory of the summer. The two spend a happy time together, but the time to part is approaching, but no one can bring themselves to say it.
One morning, Minami’s father, Haruyuki (Ikki Sawamura), visits the Horikiri family. He tells them about Minami and suggests that they get a university professor who helped him out a long time ago to look into his condition. His feeling that “as a parent, I can’t just sit back and do nothing” is painfully clear to everyone, and Minami, understanding his feelings, decides to take the test.
After returning from the examination, Chiyomi and the others enjoy cake with the Horikiri family to fulfill Minami’s request to “eat a cake as tall as me.” In the middle of the cake, they notice that Minami has started to fade away.
As that time approaches, after receiving some important words from Kaede, the two head off to a place that holds many memories for them…
