UENO KOSEI's solo exhibition will be held at Kiryu Purveyors in Gunma, with a live performance by Maya Ongaku

A solo exhibition by painter UENO KOSEI will be held at Kiryu Purveyors in Gunma from Saturday, September 14th to Sunday, September 29th.

After working as a musician as the bassist for Yogee New Waves and Jappers, UENO KOSEI turned to being a painter in 2022. His uniquely drawn works have attracted attention not only in the art world but also in various genres such as fashion and sneakers.

Ueno Kosei creates works that have a somewhat relaxed worldview and invite you into an extraordinary world that evokes a sense of travel. At his solo exhibition, which will be held at the travel and outdoor themed shop “Purvayers,” he will exhibit and sell his new work titled “FEEL GOOD HIT OF THE SUMMER,” which humorously satirizes recent climate change, as well as his archive works. There will also be an exclusive lineup of T-shirts and cushions that incorporate his own art.

With the sweltering heat once again this year, I find myself muttering to myself, “Was summer always this hot?”
I realize that somehow I am not taking the looming issue of climate change seriously.
For now, on my next day off, I’ll spend the whole day watching Netflix in an air-conditioned room.
Or do you go on a trip or to an event and post it on social media?
Meanwhile, summer is coming to an end, and the temperature of the earth is rising again, slowly but surely.
And how are we dealing with the even harsher summers that are sure to come?

In addition, the piece will be framed by WOOD LIFE SERVICE, a company based in Higashikawa, Hokkaido, that makes furniture using old wood. The piece is made with the utmost care, without compromising on even the slightest deviation of a millimeter, making it a timeless masterpiece.

An opening reception party will also be held on Saturday, September 14th. As Ueno Kosei believes that the artworks are more profound when viewed while listening to music, and as he is also a fan, a special live performance by Maya Ongaku has been decided. This will be a premium event brought to you by Purvayers where you can experience the identity of Ueno Kosei to the fullest.
