When creating the music for “Kaiju No. 8,” I wanted to try something I’ve never done before, so if I had the chance, I’d try a “band” that is farthest from me! With this in mind, I launched a project called THE KAIJU BAND. Actually, I have no experience with rock music or bands, but I just wanted to try something new.
I remember being very happy when I invited Shun from My Men, the reassuring Kojiro-san, and Arai-kun, and they happily agreed!
The recording session was the day after Fuji Rock (I couldn’t attend due to a deadline…), and the regret I felt for not being able to participate disappeared in an instant. I will never forget the moment when the recording studio turned into a festival venue!
I hope that someday I can show it to everyone as a real live performance!
The project is guest-based, and members change each time. We will continue to present with a variety of guests, so please look forward to it!

Personally, I love this song so much that I’ve been waiting for it to be released!
This song is a perfect example of the world view of “Kaiju No. 8” and Mr. Bando’s musical sense, and we were able to collaborate with Mr. Arai and Mr. Ishiwaka, who are active at the forefront of the Japanese music scene. It was a very fun project!
I hope all the viewers can enjoy “Kaiju No. 8” to their heart’s content!

I received an invitation from Bando-kun to be the soundtrack for an anime. When I heard that the work was “Kaiju No. 8,” I was hooked and was reading it so much that I got really excited. The song was great, and the bass line that Bando-kun put in was super cool, but I remember practicing it at home half-crying because the song was so difficult that I felt hopeless. Anyway, I have fond memories of the sense of relief that everything went well.
It was festival time, and the mix room was just as lively as the festival itself. Please give it a listen.

I feel very honored to be able to be involved in the music for “Kaiju No. 8”. “Kaiju Rock” was recorded on a hot summer day. Kazuki and I recorded Dear Mr. Bando’s super odd meter score together with Kazuki, and I think it turned out to be a very thrilling and wonderful take, as my mental state was also recorded in conjunction with the video. Mr. Bando asked for a free-spirited approach, and Kazuki’s ideas for how to divide the drumming were scattered throughout, making this a memorable recording that brought out another side of me. Please listen to it a lot.
