Official trailer for the movie “Cells at Work”

Official Hige Dandism full comment

Last year, I pushed myself too hard on my body and was unable to perform live for a while.

I’m fine now, but health comes first – those words that I’m sure I’m tired of hearing – suddenly stinged me, and then I received this offer and ideas started pouring out of me.

Living each day while taking care of myself with about 50% of my strength,

It’s only at those moments, those important moments, that I really try my best and have fun.

I put 100% of my passion into making this, expressing my desire to live in this way.

I hope that this song will blend in with the film and bring humor, emotion, and other wonderful colors to many people and cells.

Introduction

“Cells at Work” (written by Shimizu Akane and published in Kodansha’s “Monthly Shonen Sirius”) is a manga about anthropomorphized cells. It became a huge hit in an instant after it began serialization. It has been made into an anime, many spin-off works, and related books, and its momentum has not stopped. It has become a mega-hit with a total of over 10 million copies in circulation. And now, it has finally been made into a live-action movie. In addition to the double lead roles of Nagano Mei (red blood cell) and Sato Takeru (white blood cell (neutrophil)), the film also features a super-star cast, including Ashida Mana (Urushizaki Hiko) and Abe Sadao (Urushizaki Shigeru) as the human parent and child, Yamamoto Koji (killer T cell), Naka Riisa (NK cell), Matsumoto Wakana (macrophage), Mykapyu (platelet), Sometani Shota (helper T cell), Fukada Kyoko (hepatocyte), Itagaki Rihito (new red blood cell), Kato Ryo (senior red blood cell), Kato Seishiro (Takeda senior), Kataoka Ainosuke (pneumococcus), Ozawa Shinju (Staphylococcus aureus), Niiro Shinya (Streptococcus pyogenes), and Fukase from SEKAI NO OWARI as the cells’ strongest enemy. The director is hit-maker Takeuchi Hideki (Fly Me to the Saitama, Thermae Romae). Action direction is by Ouchi Takahito (Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho). CG production is by Shirogumi, Japan’s most technologically advanced company. Additionally, the theme song, “50%”, was written by official Hige Dandism. This dream team representing Japan’s entertainment industry has created an original and unique world that no one has ever seen before. Welcome to Cells at Work! Wonderland, a one-of-a-kind visual experience that can only be enjoyed at the cinema – a place that will make you laugh, cry and learn. This winter, your body will become the stage for an epic story!

story

The smallest protagonist in the history of film… his name is a cell! There are 37 trillion cells in the human body. Red blood cells carry oxygen, white blood cells fight pathogens, and countless other cells work day and night to protect your health and life.

High school student Hikuko Urushizaki lives with his father Shigeru. Hikuko has a serious personality and healthy lifestyle, and the cells in his body are always working happily. On the other hand, Shigeru, who lives an irregular and unhealthy life, has cells in his body that are exhausted from the black work environment and are always complaining. Even though they are father and son, there is a big difference between their bodies.

The close-knit father and son lead a lively daily life. However, pathogens begin to move, aiming to invade their bodies… The “biggest battle in the history of the body” between cells begins, with the future of the Urushizakis at stake!
