The human suspense film “Kaneko Sashiiriten,” starring Ryuhei Maruyama (SUPER EIGHT), will be released nationwide in 2025.

This work is set in a “delivery shop” that delivers food to people held in prisons and detention centers, and depicts the human drama of the various circumstances faced by the people there, as well as the bonds between the families that run the delivery shop.

As soon as it was announced the other day that the film would star lead actor Ryuhei Maruyama, as well as Yoko Maki, Kira Miura, and Akira Terao, three related words became trending topics on X (formerly Twitter), and the following day it was announced that the film would be entered into the “NEW CURRENTS” competition section of the 29th Busan International Film Festival, the largest in Asia, creating a huge buzz.

And now, seven additional cast members surrounding the Kaneko family have been announced.

The role of Ninomiya Sachi, a high school girl who visits the detention center almost every day, is played by Kawaguchi Mana, who was selected through an audition and is making her film debut in this film. Having won the runner-up prize at the 45th Horipro Talent Scout Caravan (Horipro TSC), she is a promising young actor with a bright future.

The role of Kojima Takashi, who commits a crime and is detained in a detention center, is played by Kitamura Takumi (DISH//), who won the Newcomer Award at the 41st Japan Academy Awards for “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” (2017) and continues to appear in a number of popular films, including starring in “Tokyo Revengers” (2021, 2023), in which director Furukawa of this film served as assistant director.

Eri Murakawa plays Shiori Tokuyama, the mother of the childhood friend of Shinji Kaneko’s son, played by Maruyama. She is a talented actor who played the older sister of the protagonist Eiichi in the NHK Taiga drama “Seiten wo Tsuke” (2021) and also appears in the popular live-action film “Kingdom” series.

The role of Kuboki, a lawyer with close ties to the Kaneko family, will be played by Masahiro Komoto, one of Japan’s leading supporting actors. Yuko Natori, who played the lead role in all 9th ​​seasons of “Kyoto District Prosecutor’s Office Woman” and has also appeared in films such as “Team Batista FINAL: Portrait of Cerberus” (2014), will play Shinji’s mother (Yoko Kaneko). A diverse cast has been assembled, from promising newcomers to leading actors with solid track records.
