THE ORAL CIGARETTES has announced that they will be releasing their new digital single “UNDER and OVER” on October 2nd.

“UNDER and OVER” has been chosen as the opening theme song for the TV anime series “In the Next Life, I Want to Be Someone Else,” which will begin airing on October 7th. This will be Oral’s first time in about three years to perform an anime theme song.

“I’d Rather Be Someone Else in the Next Life” is based on a hugely popular comic by Konishi Asuka, currently being serialized in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine. It is a yakuza entertainment story that is full of thrills and crazy love and hate, centering around Somei Yoshino, the granddaughter of the boss of the Somei-gumi, a direct descendant of the Kansai region’s largest gang, the Kirigaya-gumi, and Miyama Kirishima, the granddaughter of the head of the Miyama-ikka, a direct descendant of the Kanto region’s largest gang, the Tokusa-kai. It has received overwhelming support, especially from female readers.

The cover photo was also released at the same time. The themes are “good and evil,” “happiness and despair,” and “past and future,” and conflicting values and feelings are incorporated into the song. The boy holding hands is a reflection of Takuya Yamanaka’s (Vo/Gt) childhood.

In addition to the cover photo, the concept visual was also released. It looks like a scene from a movie. Let’s imagine what kind of song it will be and look forward to its release on October 2nd.

“UNDER and OVER” will also be available for pre-add/pre-save on Apple Music and Spotify from September 18th, so be sure to do that in advance as well.

In addition, this song will be aired simultaneously on radio stations from 9pm on September 25th. Please listen to the song on the radio while looking forward to the TV anime broadcast and digital release.

Introduction

Somei Yoshino is the marriage partner of her grandfather, Somei Renji, the boss of the Somei-gumi, a direct descendant of the Kansai region’s largest yakuza group, the Kirigaya-gumi.

He ends up living with the Miyama Ikka, a direct descendant of the Tokusa-kai, the largest yakuza group in Kanto, where Miyama Kirishima lives.

Kirishima warmly welcomes Yoshino and is a refreshing, friendly young man who doesn’t seem to come from a yakuza family. Yoshino, who had been anxious about being in an unfamiliar place, breathes a sigh of relief.

……but!!

Due to a certain incident, Yoshino comes face to face with Kirishima’s true nature.
