■’Checkers 1987 GO TOUR at Nakano Sunplaza’ will be released on December 25th!
Since their debut in 1983, the Checkers have become so popular that they have been called a social phenomenon, defining an era.
New footage was unearthed in 2023, the 40th anniversary of their debut, and “Checkers 1987 GO TOUR at Nakano Sunplaza,” which was released in cinemas nationwide in March 2024 to great acclaim, has now been scheduled for release on Blu-ray on December 25th.
The performance at Nakano Sun Plaza in Tokyo from the “GO” tour, included in this album, was a performance that only a select few fans were able to obtain tickets to at the time, and was even called a “phantom live performance.”
Moreover, only three songs from the Nakano Sun Plaza performance have been included in the video products related to “GO” released so far, and most of them have remained unreleased, remaining a mystery to this day.
At the same time, a 3-disc Blu-ray box set will be released exclusively on the 40th anniversary special website, which will include restored footage of the Checkers 1987 GO TOUR at Nakano Sunplaza, Osaka Stadium, and Nippon Budokan GO TOUR. Details of the product contents will be announced in mid-October.
In addition, a screening event will be held at a live house for the first time for a Checkers film, on November 13th and 14th at harevutai in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, where you can experience a live performance with a big screen, loud volume, standing, and screaming and cheering.
In addition to “Checkers 1987 GO TOUR at Nakano Sunplaza,” the film to be screened will also include a newly restored version of “Checkers 1987 GO WINTER TOUR at Nippon Budokan,” which will also be included in the Blu-ray BOX. Be sure to visit a live music venue where you can enjoy the atmosphere of a real live performance, which is different from that of a movie theater.
