Toronto-based artist Ciel will be performing in Japan on Friday, October 11th at the late-night event “MIDNIGHT EAST,” hosted by DJ bar Higashimaya and live house Spotify O-EAST in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Ciel, AKA Cindy Li, is known as a member of Discwoman, a New York-based DJ collective that supports female and LGBTQIA+ artists, and is also the co-founder of the label Parallel Minds. In recent years, she has toured the world, bringing her trademark supple, smacking sound to prestigious clubs, top festivals, and popular radio stations, while also hosting her own parties, producing music, and working as an activist.
Ciel has come to Japan three times to perform DJ sets, but this time she will be appearing on the 3rd floor of O-EAST with her latest live set. From Japan, in addition to solo DJ/producer, Bushmind, who is also a member of Rockasen and Sangeki no Mori, 7e, who will be performing with Ciel again this year, provided a mix for her regular show on Rinse FM in the UK in June, and Ascalypso, who is also active as a party unit Glocal Pussys based in Osaka, will be appearing.
On the Higashimaya floor, four artists will be at the booth: Kimoji, a resident at Jakarta club ZODIAC, Kza from DJ/producer unit Force Of Nature, DNG, a member of house music collective CYK, and Atsuko Satori, one half of DJ unit PALM BABYS.
